Is Chris Matthews being outed as one Rove called?? (MSNBC)
http://www.msnbc.com/news/976116.asp

Wilson told NEWSWEEK that in the days after the Novak story appeared, he got calls from several well-connected Washington reporters. One was NBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell. She told NEWSWEEK that she said to Wilson: “I heard in the White House that people were touting the Novak column and that that was the real story.” <b>The next day Wilson got a call from Chris Matthews, host of the MSNBC show “Hardball.” According to a source close to Wilson, Matthews said, “I just got off the phone with Karl Rove, who said your wife was fair game.” (Matthews told NEWSWEEK: “I’m not going to talk about off-the-record conversations.”)

6. Matthews will never come forward
he is far too much of a coward and in Bush's pocket. Rover hyping the story was clearly part of the outing conspiracy to disclose this information. Both the initial leak and the "fair game" calls from Rove are part of one act to expose a CIA agent for the purposes of political revenge.

12. Treason is an attack against our Country.
Punishable by death. Just because we have an idiot in office does not mean that ALL branches of the government and or defense should ignore an attack.

What if the Traitors in the WH were people with names like Abdul, I bet they whould be in court right now.

5. Subpoena network records??
If the reporters don't want to talk, can the FBI subpoena the phone records? And is this something we want the FBI doing to reporters as a matter of course, or do they anyway? Does this case rise to the level where the FBI would be right to do it this time, but not generally right to violate press sources?

Interesting.

8. Patriot Act say FBI needs no stinkin subpoena
If they were really interested in finding the traitors they could just take the records. This is what the Patriot Act is all about. Traitors need to be expunged.

9. Please use tItle of article: "Secrets and Leaks"
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 01:42 PM by TahitiNut
I'd suggest "Secrets and Leaks (Did Rove leak to Chris Matthews?)"
The Rules for Posting in the Latest Breaking News Forum state "When posting articles, please use the published title of the article as the title of the discussion thread." Please edit and correct this.

Thank you,

11. chill, people, chill -- Tweety isn't one of the SIX
Matthews is not one of the SIX. Follow the dots here.

1. two WH officials leaked the Plame story to six journalists

2. Novak outed Plame.

3. a senior administration official leaked the news of the leak to the Washington Post, and the post printed the story.

4. Karl Rove worked in the next several days after the Post story to advance the damage against Wilson. This is when Tweety was phoned.

5. Tweety phoned Wilson to tell him that Rove had called him with the fair game comment.

19. Aha! since Tweety isn't a journalist, he couldn't have been one of the six
I follow your logic, and it seems sound.

If he had been among the original six, the WP would have phrased it, "five journalists and a juicyfruit," or some such.

and let him tell all or have his money maker stitched closed forever.

MSNBC would have a better program if Phil Donahue would replace this no nothing turd.

I wonder if he will let something slip. He likes to have us believe he is so on the inside.

18. This explains Tweety's hard right turn, as of late
He's actually bought into this bogus Rovian spin on Wilson. And he won't talk to investigators because now he's buddy-buddy with Bush/Rove and "...he's one of us."
