Torricelli charged with leaving accident scene
Bob Torricelli just can't do anything right, can he?

LAMBERTVILLE - Former U.S. Sen. Robert Torricelli and the Lambertville police apparently aren't on the friendliest of terms following an incident in which he's been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

City police said Torricelli, 52, was at the wheel of a vehicle on Aug. 29 that backed into another car at the Main Street Food Market.

Torricelli, who lives in the Rosemont section of nearby Delaware Township, said he wasn't the driver of the car and the officer investigating the accident must have "other motivations" in his handling of the case.

1. It's a good thing he's no longer in the Senate

2. They do have to prove he was the driver
and that isn't easy, especially if he can finger someone else.

3. Sounds like he's fingering the (ex) missus
A witness allegedly saw Torricelli look at the damaged car and then get back into his vehicle to drive away...

Torricelli contends that his ex-wife, Susan Holloway, was the driver of the vehicle...(a) Torricelli aide...(said)...she took control of the car and apparently backed into the parked vehicle.

Reached last night, Torricelli said it was reasonable to assume he and Holloway did not know there was damage because the impact occurred at less than one mile per hour. In retrospect, they should have gotten out of their car, he said. He also said O'Leary's car was parked illegally.

Depends on the extent of the damage, I guess. And on the witness' eyesight.
