Bush tempers economic rosiness in outreach effort
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 12:06 PM by maddezmom
LUSBY, Md. (Reuters) - President Bush tempered his rosy message on the U.S. economy on Wednesday, acknowledging the job worries of working families as part of a strategic shift to bolster his standing in the polls.

The shift was part of a new White House push to answer Americans' views, as cited in polls, that the president is out of touch with their everyday concerns, whether on the economy or the Iraq war. Bush's job-approval ratings have slumped to the lowest levels of his presidency.

During a visit to a Maryland nuclear plant, Bush said he remained confident that "the state of our economy is strong," and that "Americans from all walks of life have got good reason to be confident about the future."

"People are working," Bush said, citing the benefits of low inflation rates and interest rates.

But he also appealed to "working families" concerned about the job market by saying, "I understand parts of our country are still struggling."

1. He understands does he?
That's been his new mantra: I understand.

It's as if he knows that we think he's so stupid.. and he is.. that he has to repeat that he gets something when the problem is not whether he gets it or not, but rather whether he gets that he's responsible.

3. Bush is such a liar.....
<snip> "...the state of our economy is strong...Americans from all walks of life have got good reason to be confident about the future....People are working". All hollow words, generalities and deflections. Bush is such a shallow person, lacks total credibility.

Then comes the Bushit storm, "...Look I recognize -- and I hope you recognize -- that when I sign that bill your gasoline prices are not going to drop. This problem has been long in the making. But by addressing it now, we're going to be able to say ... life is going to be better for our children and our grandchildren". Everyone duck... :hurts: ....too late, too late!

6. the fuck he knows about "working" and "working families"???!
glad to know he's addressing the gas issue with an eye to our kids and grandkids. of course that assumes there will be any left for them to buy, that they have jobs, that they're not bankrupt due to the economic policies of today, and the earth hasn't been rendered uninhabitable for - well pick a reason from pollution to nuclear or biological warfare......

7. You see what's going on here, right?
He's marching out the compassionate conservative bullshit again. He's falling in the polls so now he's going back to the line of crap that fooled all the sheeple from the beginning.

"oh look martha, he knows I'm having a hard time finding a job, isn't that nice of him!"

8. In other news...
Edward John Smith, Captain of the Titanic, expressed concern that parts of his mighty ship were still sinking. However, he pointed out that the stern of the ship was rising out of the water.

9. "Americans from all walks of life have got good reason to be
confident about the future."

I look at movie theater receipts as a kind of economic indicator. Attendance is at a 20 year low. You can't tell me that is all due to netflix and illegal dvd burning.

The theater business must be one "walk of life" that is not included in the monkey talk.
