Bush Plans Appearance With Schwarzenegger
That was fast....
____________________

WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 — President Bush will appear at the side of California's governor-elect, Arnold Schwarzenegger, during a fund-raising trip to the state next week, a Republican close to the White House said on Wednesday, even as some religious conservative supporters of Mr. Bush said they were troubled by accusations that Mr. Schwarzenegger had engaged in sexual misconduct.

But the conservatives said their concerns would not spill over to Mr. Bush. It was unthinkable, they added, that a Republican president would not stand with a newly elected Republican governor on a trip to the state, particularly one the White House hopes to win in 2004.

"The president is a politician who is running for re-election, and given that California could be the key to 2004 and that the vote was resoundingly for Arnold I don't think the president feels he is embracing Arnold in all of his manifestations," said Robert Knight, the director of the Culture and Family Institute, a Washington conservative group.

4. Let's see
Bush photo-ops w/ Arnold.

Ultra-conservatives get pissed because Schwarzenegger is a sexual predator.

But it's all shits and giggles for them because a Republican is going to be their governor.

This is some masterful cognitive dissonance.

I wonder how this will affect Arnold...I mean, will some voters who dislike Bush suddenly get snapped back to reality when they see him with Bush????

10. So when the titty twister does this it Laura will it be ok?
I bet he says he did not know it was wrong. He thought Bush supported him in his endevours and this is one of his endevours, to feel up every woman on the planet. Now as of late I have heard the argument that it is ok what Arnold did because he said he was wrong, Clinton never said he was wrong. Here is my rebuttal: With Clinton it was two consenting adults, with Arnold it was not. I would also like to add that people on death row say they are sorry for what they have done and have made their peace with God, but they do not get off of death row for this confession. I think Arnold should be held to the same standard by the GOP, lack of forgiveness. I would also like to add what William " Book of Virtues" Bennet said of Clinton; is he apologizing because he got caught, or would he have been sorry if he never was caught? Lets hold Arnold to the same question.

21. I wish to point out
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 06:27 AM by patsified
In addition to your excellent points, I wish to point out that in fact Clinton DID say that what he did was wrong:

"Indeed, I did have a relationship with Ms. Lewinsky that was not appropriate. In fact, it was wrong. It constituted a critical lapse in judgment and a personal failure on my part for which I am solely and completely responsible."

http://www.time.com/time/daily/scandal/documents/meaculpa.html

That's more than the Groper has done. The Groper's words were quite dismissive. Too bad the Groper's gropees did not file charges. Too bad the Groper's gropees were not heavily financed and urged on by a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy, like Juanita B. and Paula J. and the other gals were (they were handsomely rewarded by the Right for their 15 minutes in the spotlight).

Clinton was punished by public humiliation and impeachment. He has done his time for his "crime." I will never again allow a Repub to say the words "Clinton's penis" to me.

45. And Californians, please remember this-
when Grey Davis appealed to the White House to help out re: the energy mess, he basically told you to kiss his ass. Now that you have a republican puppet for a governor, Bush realizes that you're alive. Just a reminder. You're only good for a photo-op and a fundraiser.

15. Something I've noticed
on the news and here at DU. Doesn't Arnold have a last name anymore???? Gray Davis was never just "Gray," and I can't think of any politician being affectionately referred to by the media by just their first name. It's just "Arnold" in the headlines and by all the TV news people. Will he always be Arnold or do you think he'll become (*cough, choke, gag*) Gov. Schwarzenegger?

I'm not lumping DU folks in with the news cheerleaders. It's just I've noticed that The Groper is becoming like Madonna and Cher all of the sudden and I'd prefer to hear him not called something so familiar - like he's everyone's best friend - by the press and the rest of America.

44. That's exactly what the re-call of Davis was all about
With the Democrats helping Bush by electing Schwartzenneger, that was his ticket back to the oval office in 2004. It was all planned and carried out in such a short time, it would make anyone's head swim. It looks as if the Kennedy family is more than willing to help Bush too, so what more does he need? He will have the media as always, more than half of California, and the stupid democrats who were behind Arnie, to catipult him to the presidency, probably even be elected this time.

46. Republicans know how to stick together, thats why they win
Pro choice? to a repuke you'd be a "baby killer" unless of course, you have an (R) after your name. Pro Choice, Pro Gun Control, Pro Gay Rights Arnie standing next to Anti Everyone of those things, bush. Sure they are hypocrites..."big time", but all they care about is getting that (R) in office. They will put aside all of their differences to obtain it. And it never seems to fail. Moderates are happy with his views & Conservatives are happy to say a Republican is now "controlling" California. They all get what they want in the end.

47. No, the dems lost cause they didn't offer the voters a decent choice.
Arnold could have been beaten and he should have been beaten. The party had to work to lose this election and luckily for Arnold, they spared no effort in so doing.

Whether it's in Sacramento or in Washington, the powers that be don't LISTEN to what the people are telling them. In this case the electorate made it VERY clear they didn't like Davis and wanted an alternative. Maculiffe and the rest said there shall be NO alternative. Davis or nothing. Cruz defied this suicide pact but no ELECTABLE dems did.

Look at the voter statistics and see how the split went with core democratic groups. If Cruz and his Indian casino payoffs was the best the party could do, what did you EXPECT the voters to do ?

Let's bury the BS about coups, rigged voting machines and all the other crappy excuses. The party hacks threw this one away.

Bad sign for 04 too btw. The same people are running that one too.
