2. First of all
nothing wrong with socialized education - If people had to pay to go to public schools, allot of kids wouldn't make it out of the first grade, no matter how much more money their parents had, it would not pay private tuition. Schools are funded here by property tax, as a home owner i pay about $800 a year, which would buy me about 3 weeks in a mediocre private school. Public schools in my area, while they could shrink some in class size, are very good.

Second of all, if you are going to tell me that the main stream FREE media is not bought and sold and in the right-wing/bush pockets, then I really have no words for you. Our "free" media is free from political control. yeah right.

7. opps wrong again, bucko
There is absolutely no "left wing" news in my area - I don't pay for cable, now why should i be forced to consume nightly news on ABC NBC and CBS but have to pay to get the sundance channel? Liberal news for one PBS hour is not equality. Not even close.

I promise I will read your charter school stuff when I get a chance. But in my community, parents prefer to become involved with their neighborhood schools rather than use gimmicks like charter schools.

16. Now that's funny and quite sad really....
yes, most people would consider those 3 things liberal, which just goes to show you how effective the dehumanizing of the word "liberal" by rush/hannity/coulter etal has become. Like the "liberal" supreme court, and the "liberal" Dan Rather. Oh, Travis, you take care yourself, OK?

12. If Saudi Arabia reduces the rules and allows more choices
to its people that will be great!!! Your right people have a choice to turn on the TV and watch or don't watch...

Not what I think Saudi Arabia has realized their propoganda state controlled media ... Nobody is watching!!! ... so how effecctive is it???

Its only effective if people watch it...

Now America has choices it appears like that but in all essance not really... so whats going on is nobody is watching the tV thus the low ratings of the news channels...

I think governments want to put on the face that they are more democratic when in reality they aren't and notice the Saudi's will GRADUALLY change the rules and regulations!!!

Ok on your choice for education for charter schools...

Beware of this ... you understand when you take federal money your under the rules of the federal law... Most of my friends who like the idea of charter schools reluctantly realize that No Prayer in schools allowed in public schools would be the same rule in charter schools

I don't think thats what private schools want ... to fall under the federal rules and the children will have to be tested just as Bush wants so therefore the federal rules on what your children are taught!!! I'd advocate home schooling if a person is leaning this way verses a charter school!!!

its kinda like

do you really want to be under the rules the public schools are because you took federal money

and yes the parent CHOOSES but they got the check from ALL AMERICANS and the GOVERNMENT OF THE US

and that means rules and regulations go attached to that check!!!

4. Well Socialized Medicine is like Medicare and Medicaid
why am I for Socialized (state run institutions) because private corporations are run by individuals who could give a shit about the good of the people all they care about is profits or at least they should be but here in America the news media private owners such as Murdoch can put out his OWN NEWS!!!

Socialism is a viable institution but Capitalism has major major flaws and one is Depressions!!! masses of hungry people get really ticked off!!!

go into your history books and take a look!!!

6. "The more subsidized it is, the less free it is"??
It's always "subsidized" - either by public or private capital. I have experience of both in Canada, and the former is far superior. More "free," even.

You don't find corporate rule a tyranny?

I do. But hey, I'm a socialist.

17. The Saudis don't tell the truth any more than the NeoCons...
...why do you think that the Saudi media will end up in any hands but those of the Saudi ruling class?

Oh, and by the way...do you believe that the US media is "truly free of political control and accountable directly to the will of the people"?
