Bush promotes Web site to show support for troops

BY JEFF ZELENY

Chicago Tribune

WASHINGTON - (KRT) - As President Bush concluded his address to the nation Tuesday evening, after imploring Americans yet again for their patience and resolve in the war in Iraq, he turned to a new device to make his case.

A patriotic Web site.

The president asked Americans to log onto www.americasupportsyou.mil, a Department of Defense Web site, and register support for the troops. In addition to waving flags and hanging ribbons over the upcoming Independence Day weekend, Bush said, why not send a message to a local member of the armed forces?

"You can go there to learn about private efforts in your own community," Bush said, after promoting the Web site. "At this time when we celebrate our freedom, let us stand with the men and women who defend us all."

Before he was sworn into office, the president swore off e-mail out of a concern for his privacy. And aides have said Bush isn't known to frequent many Internet sites.

But other Web-savvy Americans can type in their state to find specific events or information about their troops.

7. I wonder what sorts of spyware and/or viruses any site he recommends
might give your computer. They control the media and they are still falling. They are gonna have to do something about us truthseekers on the INTERNETS to stay their fucking course cuz they aren't about to admit defeat, give up and face the courts.

Ya think maybe this site was thrown together really really quickly and just in time for Boy George to mention it in his speech?

6. Yeah!
Yay for more jingoistic, pin a flag on your shirt, attach a flag to your car, slap a yellow ribbon on your bumper American patriotism. <sarcasm>

So the "President" has an opportunity to level with the American public, apologize for lying us in to a war, and begin to set things straight and all he does is hock a website?

He's more hopeless then I thought.

8. Well, here's the message I just sent:
Greetings to all of the brave men and women serving their country overseas.

Everyone here at home is behind you 100%!

And many of us are doing our damndest to be sure you come home safe and come home soon. I'm doing my part to see that the bastard of a Commander-in-Chief that sent hundreds of thousands of you into harm's way over lies will answer for his crimes.

We'll also do our best to be sure that when you do come home, you'll be supported like a veteran should. We'll work to be sure you have benefits and be able to get back to work, if you're able.

Hang in there and take care and come home soon!

10. How pathetic. The site for Texas has two events listed
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 10:53 PM by Ilsa
and they are over already. Nothing listed for July. What a pathetic site. Looks like they spent all of about $50 bucks on it.

18. some jerk picked up one of those yellow ribbon magnets out of the dirt and
slapped it on my car, scratching the paint. it's a collectible. i don't think it's legal to return the favor.

let us look at bushco's program:

the useless search for enemies of freedom. uhh... (in the words of bush)... uhh...

it's bushco.

buscho creates "enemies of freedom" so they can smash them in Iraq using mercenaries and underpaid US Troops in the name of "freedom" while our freedoms at home are constantly shrinking for the purposes of propping up ever-diminishing corporate returns.

bushco has long since ceased to create any kind of future for our country. they refuse to govern, they deny any access to proof that they are dumping our US Treasury coffers into the pockets of their cronies, and they will never cease politicking... in fact, they've created a new industry of non-stop politicking for elections we may never live to see. why? because they have to justify dee-bold election machinery (unaccountable) that returns endless clones of their own ilk.

i'm sick of the stench of my own puke over these people. if you can call them that.
