Bush Criticized Over Speech About Iraq War
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Democrats are criticizing
President Bush for raising the Sept. 11 attacks while he defends his plan to keep U.S. troops in
Iraq as long as it takes to ensure peace in the country.

The president, urging patience on an American public showing doubts about his Iraq policy, mentioned the deadly 2001 terrorist attacks five times during a 28-minute address Tuesday night at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Some Democrats accused him of falsely reviving the link that he originally used to help justify launching strikes against Baghdad.

"The president's frequent references to the terrorist attacks of September 11 show the weakness of his arguments," House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said. "He is willing to exploit the sacred ground of 9/11, knowing that there is no connection between 9/11 and the war in Iraq."

1. It was same old Bush
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 but he kept implying it did. The whole fear and safety thing. Yeah, he hates our kids spilling their blood, but let it continue. Vintage Bush.

Need I say more?

Bush bounces back and forth.

WMD, 9/11, democracy, freedom, 9/11.

Make up you feeble little mind, Obersturmbahnführer.

15. Mostly DH & I remember it from Comic Books...
and early kid TV shows. Actually until Bush used the word I can't say I remember ever hearing it used in a real life discussion. Heck it took a few moments for DH and I to pull out of the grey matter where we actually knew the word from.

8. I support Bush; we should stay in Iraq until we get bin laden, and
make the Iraqis pay for when they attacked us on 9/11. Sorry, had to be an idiot. Can this asshole stop parading out in front of the troops and start telling the truth. I hate republicans, baby.

9. More false neocon advertising...
Just a couple of days ago, Scott McClellan was telling us that the speech was going to be a plea for patience, and that Chimp wanted to tell us about what he hoped to achieve...well, WE know what he wants to achieve, looting Iraq and enriching his buddies, but anyway...the public version of what he wants to achieve, and to discuss his strategy for success.

I will admit, I did not watch his speech. I owe it to my sanity and health to avoid seeing or hearing him. For those of you who, for the greater good of DU forced yourselves to watch, in all of your posts during the speech, you did not once mention his strategy. I conclude that not only does he not have a strategy, but he didn't even pretend to outline one.

From what I can tell, it was even more blatant lying, tying 9-11 to Iraq, and hinting that the country was full of evil terraists, bent on coming to our shores and killing us because they hate our freedoms. To save us, Chimpy dropped the hunt for Osama, lied us to war, and things have been getting worse and worse ever since.

He is lucky that criticizing him is the worst that is happening. In any sane country, he would have been impeached, removed from office, and tried for war crimes.

12. "Staying the course"
For that babbling dumbshit, that is a strategy. Just as simple as that, stay the course.

Wall straight ahead?....stay the course!

Abyss straight ahead?...stay the course!

Methinks he played too much "Lemmings" in his college years.

Wow, Nedra Pickler having to report on people criticizing her fearless leader. Much less snotty than her reporting last year; maybe she's less evil than I'd thought.

18. Reid could have been a little stronger....
he should have rebuked him better than this...

"The president's numerous references to September 11 did not provide a way forward in Iraq," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said. "They only served to remind the American people that our most dangerous enemy, namely Osama bin Laden, is still on the loose and al-Qaida remains capable of doing this nation great harm nearly four years after it attacked America."
