Rumsfeld, Myers answer questions from soldiers, staffers

PENTAGON Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Richard Myers appear frequently as a team on Capitol Hill, and less frequently before the press, but today, they fielded questions from soldiers and staffers in a "town hall" style meeting at the Pentagon.

They were asked about issues ranging from divorce benefits for ex-spouses of soldiers, to mandatory retirement, to the public relations offensive in the war on terror.

On the last issue, Myers said the Pentagon is doing a poor job of winning the hearts and minds of people in the Muslim world. He said, "up till now our performance has been a D-minus but we have A-plus capability."

Rumsfeld says he's confident that over time, Americans who are disenchanted with the war in Iraq will see the wisdom of staying the course.

"On the last issue, Myers said the Pentagon is doing a poor job of winning the hearts and minds of people in the Muslim world."

"Duh, no shit" just doesn't even cover it.

3. Armitage is a psycho....
After three tours in Vietnam, Armitage has become a hawk. Nixon and Kissinger's move toward a Vietnam peace settlement angers him. Armitage is told it's time to exit the Navy for the good of his career. But he doesn't want to leave Vietnam, so he joins the U.S. Embassy in Saigon.

5. Ambitious is the word that comes to mind
But I'm sure that in this domain where IQ is measured in millimeters, he made up for the lack of one by being a nutjob. Bad playground full of even worse bad boys.

Washington is in need of a strong wind to blow out the last 55 years of its history. Nothing else will work and the moss and mold get heavier, bending any who stay in that city for long.

6. "Answer Staffers and military at the Pentagon?"
Excuse me but how many of these Staffers are over-paid civilians and how many of the US military enlisted serving in the Pentagon have or will go to Iraq or Afghanistan.

The Pentagon is not usually a stop for the enlisted man or woman on their way to war nor on their return home.
