Karzai/Bin Laden 'not in Afghanistan'
Osama bin Laden is not in Afghanistan, President Hamid Karzai said, while a purported Taliban spokesman reiterated a claim that a missing American commando is being held by the rebels and will soon be killed.

Karzai made the comment at a news conference in the capital, Kabul, but gave no suggestion of where he thinks the al Qaida leader may be hiding.

"God knows where he is. ... We don't know. ... He is not in Afghanistan," he said, without elaborating.

10. Karzai is certian that OBL isn't in Karzai's bunker
Since that is where he stays all the time and the only place he has a better than 50% chance of not getting killed.

Regardless of that at least we know that once again W was right-Bin Laden is either dead or alive.

15. Exactly my first thought
You have to be a complete idiot to make those two statements.

I mean, true, if the area is small enough, this trick might work: if i am standing in a small room, i could safely say that i have no idea where OBL is and I can also say that he is not in the room with me. But when you move to a scale of an entire country, you lose that luxury.

14. oh my he is so transparent
remind me of the statements from the Taliban oh a day after 9.11

What karzai is trying to avoid is the british wrath

That said, he is also started the work to lay OBL in Iran, mark my words on this... Iran is next and they need a casus belli that the people will buy

16. Ok, my twisted theory...
Bin Ladin believes that jihad is the "6th pillar" of Islam (not so), and that only by jihad can "true muslims" remain pure and act according to God's will.

Bin Ladin made an agreement to allow his organization to take the blame for 9-11, in exchange for a promise by the US to eventually dismantle our bases in Saudi Arabia (the birthplace of Islam and home of it's holiest sites). He would gain the world-wide struggle his organization needed to continue jihad (what better recruiting tool), and at the same time would succeed in his mission to rid Saudi of US military. We get to attack Iraq (the whole reason all along), secure Afghanistan for an oil route, and get our defensive spending up at the sky-high levels that enrich our current administration.

That being said...Bin Ladin is safe and secure somewhere, or dead due to illness (I think it was rumored he was ill). He got what he wanted and so did we.
