Bush Asserts Iraq Is 'Making Progress' (New Currency A Sign of Progress)
Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 09:48 AM by khephra
Bush on Saturday offered a portrait of Iraq as a country where life is returning to normal after war, insisting that "Iraq is making progress" despite a steady drumbeat of bad news. Bush said progress was coming as a result of his "clear strategy."

The president complained this week that the "filter" of the news media is blocking positive developments from reaching Americans, and he opened a public-relations offensive to present an alternative view.

In his weekly radio address, Bush said Iraq is a place where markets are bustling, shelves are full, oil is flowing and satellite dishes are sprouting up.

"Since the liberation of that country, thousands of new businesses have been launched," Bush said. "With our assistance, Iraqis are building the roads and ports and railways necessary for commerce."

Bush Touts New Iraq Currency as Sign of Progress

snip...

Facing doubts at home about its Iraq policies and the proposed $87 billion cost for the country's rebuilding, the Bush administration is waging a public relations campaign aimed at highlighting successes of the postwar effort.

Bush cited as a major milestone the plans to issue fresh Iraqi dinar notes that will no longer bear the image of Saddam Hussein, whom the United States ousted from power in April.

"We're helping Iraqis to rebuild their economy after a long era of corruption and misrule," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "For three decades, Iraq's economy served the interest only of its dictator and his regime."

"The new currency symbolizes Iraq's reviving economy," he said.

2. Iraqis are making great progress
Large demonstrations against colonial occupation is progress towards the self-rule that the Frat Boy and his PNAC pals would deny them.

4. "For three decades, Iraq's economy served the interest only of its
dictator and his regime."

God that sounds familiar! All we are doing is serving Bushco.'s interest and I would call them a regime! Guerilla warfare is really making progress! Progress will come when our troops aren't dying on a daily basis. Fuck Iraqi's reviving economy when people are still dying. Clear strategy my ass. The only thing that is clear to me is that they don't have a clue what they are doing. Screw this misadministration and the stolen horse they rode in on.

6. Yeah, you got it!
What lovedems said! Over and over again! :yourock:

I cannot stop vomiting (figuratively speaking) when I read the bullshit that comes out of Shrub's mouth. How divorced from common sense and reality can a man get.

5. Point of reference for "progress"
Ever notice how the point of reference for progress Bush uses is the day after the bombing stopped, and the day after he sacked the entire public service, all the health care bureaucrats, police, teachers, etc.?

How much progress could he measure between the day before the bombs started dropping and now?
