(IN) Abortion consent decision reversed
I realize this isn't totally reassuring to us pro-choicer's, but for Indiana, this is some positive, rational movement !!

“Even in cases of divorce and joint custody, minors need the consent of only one parent to get an abortion, the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled Friday.

The three-judge panel unanimously overturned a Dearborn County judge's ruling in a case involving divorced parents who shared custody of their minor daughter. Circuit Judge James Humphrey had ruled that in such cases, the consent of both parents should be required.

State law says only one parent's consent is needed to authorize an abortion for a girl under 18.

"There is no rational reason to make it more difficult for the child of divorced parents to receive an abortion than for the child of married parents," Judge John Baker wrote in the opinion. "This would merely be visiting condemnation upon the head of an innocent child who is not responsible for her parents' divorce."

1. That is somewhat comforting
I can't imagine being a teenage girl trying to seek an abortion under those circumstances. Makes my heart ache just to think of it.

2. It's better than having to go to Europe
I knew a girl who did that in the late 60s.

3. I'm pro-choice....think abortion is an option ....not the first option...
but should be available.

All of these protestors would have my ear if even one of them would speak on how they would help of all the unwanted children in this country. All they can do is disrupt and frighten women already in a vulnerabe state of mind.
