Corpses are found by the dozen as police join death spree
From James Hider in Baghdad

THE corpses of ten men who had been handcuffed, tortured and shot in the head were found in the eastern outskirts of Baghdad yesterday as tension between Iraq’s Sunni and Shia communities escalated.

The discovery came a day after 12 bodies were found in similar circumstances. All but one of the twelve were Sunnis, including a cleric.

Last weekend ten Sunni men suffocated after being locked up for hours in an unventilated van by police commandos. It was not immediately known whether the ten men found yesterday were Sunni or Shia.

...

Sunni leaders said that the men whose corpses were found on Wednesday had been arrested before dawn in a series of police raids on their homes. Hours later they were found tortured, murdered and dumped in a streets in the Shia slum of Sadr City.

1. Protesters said, invade Iraq and you may well unleash civil war
It looks like we had a point, once again.

everything would work out well. Remember, Bush "prayed" over this?

7. Yes. And Bush told Pat Robertson there'd be no casualties.
And there weren't any, were there?

28. Quite the opposite....
Much to this crazy man's credit, Pat Robertson attempted to warn Bush about the casualties...and as expected, the White house denies everything.

White House Denies Casualty Claim

<snip>
Robertson, in an interview with CNN that aired Tuesday night, said God had told him the war would be messy and a disaster. When he met with Mr. Bush in Nashville, Tenn., before the war Mr. Bush did not listen to his advice, Robertson said, and believed Saddam Hussein was an evil tyrant who needed to be removed.

"He was just sitting there, like, 'I'm on top of the world,' and I warned him about this war," Robertson said.

"I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you better prepare the American people for casualties.' 'Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties.' 'Well,' I said, 'it's the way it's going to be.' And so, it was messy. The Lord told me it was going to be, A, a disaster and, B, messy."

"on top of the world." What a psychopath! WHen are people going to wake up? Like he couldn't imagine it if his was his own children going.

Now if that doesn't demonstrate the lack of intellect of the monster that is bush**, nothing else ever will.

5. Payback's a bitch!
I'm sure that Bush* is following every twist and turn with avid interest. The Sunni's will not lay down, or roll over. Endless civil war, with vendetta and retribution ruling daily life, this is the garden that the BFEE has sown. It will grow bitter fruit for generations to come! The fundie's wanted "Bible-land"?, well, they've got it! Along with pestilence, human sacrifice, and eye-for-an-eye justice!

10. Bush following every twist and turn? Hardly! They don't tell him bad
news - it limits the confidence they need to foster and maintain in him so that he can strut out in front of the fake audiences and pimp and pump. He needs to get those social security contributions from us so that his friends in the investment houses can 'manage' it.

32. You miss my point.....
Bush* gets excited about death and destruction. You can just see him perk up every time he mentions it in his canned speeches. White House situation room has cool monitors which pick up live feeds from troublespots, stuff you'll never see on TV. I'm sure Bush* watches the day's highlights, probably while sporting wood! He is one sick bastard. Death and destruction are his VIAGARA!

12. I saw this story on Yahoo as well, it was rated 2 1/2 stars......
the London bombings were of course 5 stars and 9/11, well, that was off the charts. It seems people just aren't that concerned when brown skinned people die. Iraqis especially. I think many people view them as sub-human and not deserving of their consideration.
These people had families, loved, were loved, had jobs, and were trying to make the best out of a situation where our president invaded their country on a pack of lies. But somehow, they're just not important enough to care about.
It's exactly this type of attitude that is going to keep this country in a world of shit in the foreseeable future. There are times when I really hate many of the people in my own country. Their arrogance and lack of empathy will be their undoing I believe.

The Kurds in the north want no part of Iran, and that's what will happen if the Shi'ites prevail....

They want a seperate country. If that happens, then watch Turkey explode as the kurds trapped in Turkey wil want to succeed and join with the new country...

Syria and Jordon will try to take i that part of Iraq that is Sunni...

33. Some of us said at the war's start that the best future for iraq,

was to split it into three separate territories: one sunni, one shia, and on kurd. Looks like that's what will happen. Just a lot more dead that would be if we started out to create separate territories.

38. That wouldn't work out well either...
You're forgetting about the distribution of resources in Iraq. The Sunni, Shia, and Kurds would be fighting over those resources just a soon as the borderlines were drawn. Lets face facts here... Saddam was a son of a bitch (once he was OUR SOB) but his heavy handed regime kept the lid on a can of worms. Now the lid is off what we are witnessing now is just the beginning of the turmoil Iraq will be in. This is why so many of us were dead set against the invasion. Not just because it was essentially unjustified, but because it was short sighted and completely stupid. There was a REASON why Herbert Walker didn't take out Saddam the first time. But his dim wit son thinks he can do better than daddy.

I didn't used to be like this in my nation. Things weren't all peaches and cream, but at least the parties talked to each other and reached compromizes. Now all you hear is attacks.

The only answer I think is to put a bounty on repugs.

31. Catholic Church’s “Just War Doctrine." now I know what W04 stands for
The Church teaches that four questions must be answered in the affirmative before the Church will sanction defense by military force. They are:

1) Is the damage threatened to be inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations lasting, grave, or certain?
2) Are all other means of putting an end to the threat shown to be impractical or ineffective?
3) Are there serious prospects of success?
4) Does the action produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated?

GWB's war just flunked condition #4. W is Zero for four.
