Army Ends Probe on Iraq POW Abuse Alleged
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-3258427,00.html

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) - The U.S. Army has
finished its inquiry into four soldiers accused of
abusing Iraqi prisoners of war and submitted a
report on whether or not they should face court
martial, a U.S. military spokesman said Monday.

Maj. Vic Harris, speaking to The Associated Press
by telephone from Camp Doha in Kuwait, said it
could take several weeks for officials to review
the ``very, very lengthy'' report and reach a
decision.

``The inquiry has been completed and the report
has been submitted and it's a kind of a waiting
period now,'' Harris said.

Four military policeman from the 320th Military
Police Battalion, based in Ashley, Penn., are
alleged to have punched and kicked Iraqi POWs
while escorting them to Camp Bucca in southern
Iraq. The soldiers say they acted in self-defense,
that conditions were chaotic at Camp Bucca, and
that guards had been harassed and assaulted
daily by unruly prisoners.

4. They were shot, oops beaten, ...
while attempting to escape.

Yeah, sure. If things were really as bad as the guards claim, I have no doubt that the perpetrators would have been shot.

Hey, maybe the military will prosecute: for use of insufficient force. ;-)

That is all for now.
