New Yorkers fear London-style attack, poll shows

NEW YORK, July 20 (Reuters) - Most New Yorkers are worried that an attack like the July 7 London bombings is likely in their city but have not let it affect their lives and most believe they are personally safe, a poll showed on Wednesday.

"Not many of us believe the city is really ready for another attack. But New Yorkers believe the show must go on," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute which conducted the survey of 1,313 people.

The survey showed that 72 percent of those asked were "very worried" or "somewhat worried" that an attack similar to the London suicide bombings on subway trains and a bus that killed more than 50 people would occur in New York.

New York has been on high alert for another attack since the Sept. 11, 2001 hijacked plane attacks which felled the World Trade Center twin towers and killed nearly 3,000 people.

1. The way things are going,
unless the people wake up in this country and get rid of *, I certainly would not be surprised about anything anymore.

3. Please....
hitting the hysteria button again ? Give me a break.

I live in NYC. Last time I looked I didn't see alot of folks shaking in fear every time they entered the subway.

Must be a slow week for fear mongering....

4. then they'd better up his approval ratings when the pollsters call.
the further bush's numbers sink, the higher our chances of a terrorist "attack."

5. Empire's a bitch !!
Terrorism is the price of empire. Too bad the average American doesn't benefit from empire (yet, he pays for it).

6. You're as safe as kittens.
Lancelot Link isn't going to go down with the distinction of being the only president who had not one but TWO major terr'tacks on American soil. It would pretty much kill the whole "strong on terr" the zombiecons spewed as a Chimp attribute, not like any of US believed it anyway.

The sooner the Connecticut-Texas Simian leaves the office he's forever disgraced, the better off we'll be. We need a more peaceful and less fearful America, but with corporations running everything from voting to the White House, I'm afraid that's simply never going to happen.
