Moran knocks Cuba trade policy
<clips>

BY JOHN HANNA
Associated Press

TOPEKA - U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran of Kansas criticized the Bush administration Monday over Cuba policy and trade negotiations involving developing nations' demand for lower agricultural subsidies.

Moran said the United States should give up on trying to change the government in Cuba, noting that four decades of efforts to weaken dictator Fidel Castro have failed to remove him from power.

On trade, Moran said U.S. negotiators made a mistake by siding with European negotiators during last month's World Trade Organization meeting in discussions over agricultural subsidies. Developing nations want wealthier nations to eliminate farm subsidies so that farmers in poor nations can better compete.

Moran said Europe's subsidies are much higher than the United States'. The United States should join with developing nations to pressure Europe to decrease its subsidies, Moran said.

2. How 'bout the Dems??? They're just as bad. When it comes
to foreign policy to Cuba ALL Dems and Repukes roll right over. Dean and Kerry both pandered to the CANF--it's dispicable. It's just f*ck'n amazing that a small group like the anti-Cuba fanatics can hold ALL pols by the short ones. Is there not anyone with enough testicular fortitude to stand up to these cretins? These are the folks who helped steal the 2000 election for keeerist's sake. No Dem who PANDERS to these fanatics is worthy of my vote.

... Bringing along a tape of Radio Mambi could help get the court's ear. The biggest Spanish-language radio station in Miami harangued its listeners to come out and help shut down the recount by joining the demonstrators surrounding the county building.

"We were trying to stop the recount; Bush had already won," Evilio Cepero, a reporter for Radio Mambi, told The New York Times, as if obstructing a court-sanctioned ballot recount, and using your press pass to do it, was the most natural thing in the world. (Why, even Bob Dole thinks it is.)

According to the Times, Cepero "played a key role in the protests, roaming around the building outside and, with a megaphone, addressing a crowd of perhaps 150 people." In addition, he "regularly cut into Radio Mambi broadcasts to encourage people to come downtown."

The Radio Mambi haranguing should not be underestimated. Spanish radio traditionally has been FLOCO's main m&t (mobilizing and terrorizing) tool. And since election night, Little Havana had been rife with talk of taking to the streets and getting revenge against Gore.
