Poll: 'Dean Opens Wide Lead in N.H.'
The latest Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire, shows Howard Dean with a 'substantial lead' in that critical state among likely Democratic primary voters. The numbers (with Summer 2003 numbers in parentheses):

Dean 30 (16)
Kerry 17 (18)
Clark 10 (3)
Lieberman 6 (11)
Edwards 5 (2)
Gephardt 5 (3)

And Dean led the pack when likely voters were asked about their opinion of the candidate (favorable, unfavorable, don't know):

Dean 69, 14, 12
Kerry 60, 26, 5
Lieberman 49, 34, 8
Gephardt 47, 29, 12
Clark 45, 21, 24
Edwards 41, 21, 24

1. I'm not surprised

IMO, the top three Dems are Dean, Kerry and Clark. Look how much Lieberman dropped, and he's a New Englander. That's embarrassing for him.

2. why can't liberals stick together?
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 07:16 PM by confusionisnext
Looking at the other results, I wonder why would 26% of liberals vote for Bush. It makes no sense to me.

On edit: ugh, I posted to the wrong topic.

3. I would like to see the Kerry people eat some crow please
For weeks, they've been talking about How Kerry was gaining on us, how we were peaking, etc. All the same, YAY DEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously- interesting stuff for Clark. He's definately damaged Lieberman - I don't see how he plans to finish in the top 3.

4. 24%
He's still polling with 24% "Not enough info." This is probably good news for him, if he can get his campaign together out in NH. I heard that Clark might abandon NH, since he's so far behind, and try to tackle SC or AZ first. I don't think we should rule him out of NH, but he's going to have to do some serious campaigning and face time to get anywhere soon.

5. well, he's in a good spot in NH
If he knocks off Kerry by taking 2nd place, he not only removes the only other military candidates, probably damages Gephardt and Lieberman, and sets himself up for SC.

7. So sick of "everythings a horse race,"
instead of the media discussing actual IDEAS AND PROGRAMS..

8. Yes, it's pathetic.
This is a major reason why there's such banality in our society - our media are little better than sports announcers and accountants.
