General says no headway made in search for bin Laden

KABUL, Afghanistan A top U-S general in Afghanistan says there is little new in the search for Osama bin Laden.

General James Champion told reporters in a teleconference there's nothing new about the al-Qaida leader's whereabouts "from 90 days ago."

Champion is the deputy commanding general for operations and intelligence for Combined Joint Task Force 76 in Afghanistan. Bin Laden is believed to be hiding out in the mountainous region on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Champion's comment came a few hours after al-Qaida's number two man issued a new threat to both the U-S and Britain. In a videotape broadcast on the Arab T-V channel Al-Jazeera, Ayman al-Zawahri (AY'-muhn ahl-ZWAH'-ree) threatened more destruction in London. The tape comes four weeks after the deadly London subway and bus bombings.

Osama bin Asset has alsways made the most sense to me.

I heard one of the talking bushies say that in the last year but it never hit the papers.

and I originally heard the story (2nd hand), before Hersh published his version from a special ops guy that was there, about how the US helped Osama escape from Tora Bora.
