By DAVID KRAVETS, Associated Press Writer
SAN FRANCISCO - The U.S. Supreme Court handed a major victory Tuesday to the nine states that allow the medical use of marijuana, refusing to let the federal government punish doctors for recommending pot to their ill patients.

2. This is great news for doctors
who can now legally speak about any and all treatment with their patients. The WH was pushing for the "High Court" (that might explain a few things ;-) ) to reverse the decision of the California court. I'm glad that the California Court decision will stand.

5. One of my friends apparently needs .....

medical grass. She is a physical wreck: epilepsy, migraines, ADHD--even cancer! :smoke:

OTOH, I am allergic to pot, medical or otherwise, and for me to hang around her while she's taking her meds would mean asthma attacks.

6. This is the start of decriminalizing pot.

As more and more docs recommend mj and more and more patients have it, cops in the states that have the med pot laws are gonna stop enforceing the laws against it.

Lack of enforcement will lead to a defacto decriminalization. and then to reasonable regulation. And about time.

7. Legalize...rather than decriminalize...
educate everyone about it and tax it. I don't even like pot, but this is my dream, for legalization to happen in my lifetime. We all know that Pot is a lot less of a menace than alcohol and cigarettes.

8. That was the experience in Canada
Although the cops took it one step further. They announced that the "war on pot" was a complete waste of everybody's time and they're rather use it on the war against hard drugs.
