Palestinian Militants Deny Carrying Out Attack on U.S. Convoy (NYTimes)
Edited on Wed Oct-15-03 09:42 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
"If the bombing of an American Embassy convoy on Wednesday in Gaza was indeed intended as an attack on the United States, it would be a striking change in the tactics employed by violent Palestinian factions...."

Why do I get a really bad feeling about this?... link

2. Shades of the Lavon affair
I won't dismiss the possibility that Israel did it.

10. Israel admitted to this chicanery?
I understand the bombing of Egyptian buildings was indeed carried out by secret Israeli operatives but the official Israel spy agency headed by Lavan denied knowledge of it.
This is scary because it means they would indeed do such a thing. It is troubling to think they would kill Americans in an operation designed to influence our role in their conflict.

3. Curiouser and curiouser...
And if some group does take credit, can we believe it?

I wonder: if this were Mossad, wouldn't they have planned ahead to this point, and have a Palestinian mouthpiece in its service claim responsibility?

And al Qaeda has, I believe, opportunistically claimed credit on occasion for acts it had nothing to do with.

4. Take it to the bank: You will hear of some unknown resistance group
taking responsibility for this...some name that Mossad will pick out of hat.

6. The US is just NOW reporting a June bombing?
A brand new airtight case?

snip>
Another American diplomatic convoy in the same part of Gaza was also hit by a roadside explosion in late June, but the blast caused no injuries. That incident was reported by the embassy for the first time on Wednesday.

9. Bush blaming Palestinians
What I don't get is that Bush blames the Palestinians for not controlling militant factions (even though no one has claimed responsibility) and yet when a car bombing or explosion occurs in Iraq he does not blame Paul Bremmer or any US military personnel for not controlling the militant factions but on Sadaam loyalists.
