Joseph Wilson Asked About DICK CHENEY LEAK (KGO/ABC Radio)

(10/17/03, 10:51 AM ET)

Ambassador Joseph Wilson, author of the New York Times' article, "What I Didn't Find In Africa," was interviewed by KGO Radio's Ray Taliaferro this morning between 4:00 and 4:30 AM PT. KGO is a major market ABC News affiliate in San Francisco.

Prompted by listener emails, Taliaferro asked Wilson what he thought about the possibility that the Robert Novak CIA leak came DIRECTLY from Vice President Dick Cheney. Wilson's response might be described as 'aggressively diplomatic.' It was the kind of response that those who have become familiar with Wilson, would expect from this aggressive diplomat.

There's no breaking news here, but it marks the first time that the Dick Cheney lone-gunman scenario has been discussed by one of the principle players, before a major market audience. The 'Dick Leak' scenario was first outlined on DU on October 2, and has since been updated and reprinted by Mike Hersh at:

http://www.mikehersh.com/All_Roads_Lead_To_Cheney.shtml

By the way… Those "listener emails" mentioned above, were strategically presented, and specifically referenced the same mikehersh.com article.

Bye Dick.

1. Bye Dick is right! Cheney is the only VP who visited the CIA
on a regular basis! He has overstepped his position

and he was being Vindictive cause Wilson didn't take the fall for the lies. :bounce:

2. Heard the interview
Wilson came off as articulate and very credible. He spoke of "two waves" or "two by six", meaning two leakers to six reporters each. He also mentioned Karl Rove by name.

Did you hear that Wilson comment at the end?

Did Wilson say, "I knew Saddam Hussein, and you're no Saddam Hussein." DID HE DIRECT THAT TO CHENEY?

14. Yes...
I listened to the interview and it was directed at Cheney! He said someday he will probably meet with Cheney and he would like to say that to him. I was really impressed with Wilson. I didn't know much about his background and always thought of ambassadors as the country club types. Hey, Wilson is great and I found out that he schooled in California (UCSB) and realized that he is bringing the west coast offense to politics! Go Wilson!

35. Yes, no doubt
He absolutely had to have meant that, it was clearly directed at Cheney.

36. Interesting...

That's what I thought, but I missed whatever prompted the statement, and I still don't understand it (why?). What made him go back to talking about Cheney in such a direct way?

I hope he keeps talking.

Very interesting. Read the article and the dots seem to connect very well. We all know the word games they play. I've assumed from the beginning they were in CYA mode.

Hersch is likely onto something. It would seem to go without saying that Cheney's office would be included in every way in the investigation. One would a-s-s-u-m-e the 2000 or so employees would include the VP's office. Apparently not and the chief investigator seems ike he got real huffy when asked about the VP's office.

Hmmmmm.... there's a lot of billowing smoke here if one takes the time to see it in all the hot air.

12. Good stuff
I still can't believe that at this point Cheney and his staff are off limits in this investigation. That is outrageous. The folks who had the knowledge and the motivation aren't even being considered has the source of the leak is beyond comprehension, but so is most of what goes on lately.

Just gotta keep hammering away at these guys. One of these days (hopefully sooner, rather than later), it will all come tumbling down.

I have been thinking that their lies were some kind of riddle.
You broke the code. It is the Dick. How do we get him? The man is a complete vampire. I bet he stores his coffin at the undisclosed crypt, errr.. I mean bunker.

13. Cheney told investigators that he has already destroyed all evidence and
nothing can be proved.

When the investigators insisted that they see for themselves, Cheney first said that the VP's bunkers are privileged "vice-presidential sites" and off-limits, but they are welcome to look anywhere else.

When the investigators get tough and show up in force at a VP bunker, unmarked trucks and black Suburbans are seen leaving from the back of the bunker. They are told the VP is at "an undisclosed location".

The investigators claim they are fighting against a campaign of "denial and deception".

16. Cheney knows all the tricks
His mentor was "Dr. Strangelove" Rumsfeld. He sat on the Iran/Contra committee. He has been schooled in corruption by the best and the brightest.

The question I ask is just WHO is protecting Cheney? Why is Cheney an untouchable?

Is he being protected by a foreign government?

19. Cheney is the fourth branch of government

Cheney is an elected official who only answers to himself. The only constitutional requirements of the vice president are to replace the president as needed, and to be the president of the Senate (aka tie-breaker).

When Cheney became president, he gave himself incredible, unprecedented power. He runs a second administration. But with Cheney's administration, THERE ARE NO CHECKS AND BALANCES!!!!!!

24. I don't believe that Cheney works in a vacuum
Edited on Fri Oct-17-03 02:31 PM by Unknown Known
This idea is akin to people believing that Hitler gained and retained power all by himself.

We now know that there were certain entities that backed Hitler with money and they had the power to push their agendas through him. These same entities also backed the opposing side. It's called WAR PROFITEERING.

I believe the same is true of Cheney. Connect the Cheney dots - what people and groups are he connected to. This isn't rocket science.

31. Agreed, it's not a vacuum...

The point is not that Cheney works alone, or in a vacuum. It's that he works in a world without rules. The job Cheney has created for himself has never existed before.

I don't think for a moment that the second best know liar in the world, Colin Powell, is not FULLY aware of where the leak came from and why. The same goes for Rumsfeld, Rice, Bush, etc. They all were in the discussions where Cheney was strong arming the bogus yellowcake story into the State of the Union address.

They know EXACTLY what's going on here; even if they don't have first-hand knowledge of HOW it's going down.

34. Does Bush have a problem with Dick leaks?
sorry, I just had to type that.

Is Bush's Dick Leaking? (wouldn't that be a great headline?)

I think one reason why Dick has protection is because he was the ranking member of the House who had to sign off on anything which was released about the BCCI scandal.

BCCI was started by a Pakistani man, was a huge source of funding and money funneling for the bin Laden/bin Mahfouz family, was a huge source of money funneling for CIA dirty ops, including the Contra/cocaine issue.

So I think Dick knows things about lots of people.

Then, he's simply a nasty son of a bitch fascist who doesn't care about justice, the rule of law, or anything other than his own pocketbook.

In that, he has much in common with Bush. He's probably smarter than Bush, but who knows. They both have nasty sadistic streaks, absolutely.

I've thought for a while that Cheney was the source because, as has been said here, Wilson called Cheney a liar in that editorial.

The Bush administration knows two things: revenge and fucking over the rest of the world to enrich themselves.

I would love to see Cheney led out of the v.p. residence in handcuffs. I would dance in the street and celebrate as if American had won the world series of politics.

Conveniently, Cheney's office is in the Old Executive Office Building, directly across the street from the White House. So techincally, it's a true statement.
