KATY - Thomas Joseph spent part of Wednesday poring over his medicine for his high blood pressure and lung cancer, trying to cope with what's happened since his family left New Orleans and wound up in a Katy fire station. The only news he has from home is that his house is completely submerged.
"We survived the storm but we lost everything: our memories, personal belongings, things we can't replace," Joseph said.

The Josephs and others found shelter at the fire station late Monday along with other relatives after their Katy family members, Bryan and Tequilla Taylor, ran out of room in their house in the Lakecrest subdivision.
After they arrived, other refugees from Louisiana joined them at the station, which continues to take in Katrina victims.
Katy-area businesses, firefighters and residents are opening their hearts, wallets and homes to help the evacuees.
