Bush Insists Help Is On The Way

Bush insists help is on the way

George Bush said now was not the time to touch down in New Orleans
US President George Bush has admitted there is "frustration" at the speed of the relief effort following Hurricane Katrina's hit on the Gulf Coast.

"I fully understand people wanting things to have happened yesterday. I mean I understand the anxiety of people on the ground... So there is frustration but I want people to know there's a lot of help coming," he said in an interview with ABC television.

He said the operation being mounted was one of the biggest in US history, and inevitably took time to get under way.

"I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. They did appreciate a serious storm but these levees got breached and as a result much of New Orleans is flooded and now we're having to deal with it and will," he said.

1. Everybody anticipated the breach of the levees
it was why New Orleans wanted more money this year to shore them up so they would hold in case of a major hurricane.

God what a fuck wit.

4. And it's very well documented here in umpteen articles. Will media ask
about that comment?

Hah.

39. It's obvious to me that their handling of this emergency is PROOF
that they knew about 9/11.

Seems they were quite ready for that.

41. God personally told Bush that no levee would break. That is why Bush
stayed on vacation making senseless speeches about "progress" in Iraq.

22. Yeah, although this is probably logistically harder.
The tsunami waters receded quickly. By the time they were dropping supplies, people could easily get to them. N.O. is a big toxic lake, and it will be hard for the survivors to locate and acquire dropped supplies.

This is a real mess. There is probably no substitute for brute-force search/rescue via boat and helicopter.

The people who are being interviewed at the convention center are on dry land. How the hell hard can it be to load a chopper with supplies and drop them outside the convention center???????

I am truly convinced we are seeing an ethnic cleansing right here on our shores.

How dare these homos have sex on Bourbon Street and sinners show their tits in the french quarter! :sarcasm:

6. Everyone knew those levees could be breached, yet funding was cut
from hurricane-protection projects. Yet few if any supporters will hold this Administration accountable as the idolatrous throngs will continue to chant: four more years, four more years.

7. Wasn't that John Kerry's campaign slogan?
"Help is on the way"?

What a brain-dead poor excuse for a human being. No one could have "anticipated the breach of the levees." What nonsense! Every time these incompetents get caught with their pants down, they retreat to the "no one could have predicted this" excuse, which I might find acceptable from a three-year-old, but which I find totally unacceptable from an allegedly grown man.

Not only was a levee breach predictable, it was a dead certainty according to the engineers and other experts who work on these things. They've been crying for funding for years, but Bush's tax cuts and elective wars drained the Treasury.

13. "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees"?????
He didn't see the research? He didn't see the appeals for funding? He didn't hear the repeated calls for shoring up the levees? Too busy riding his bike or falling off his Segway?

Just reminded me of Contradicta's pathetic mewling "NO one could have IMAGINED planes flying into tall buildings..." with her eyelashes batting furiously.

No, it was YOU who didn't anticipate the breach of the levees, ASSHOLE. EVERYBODY ELSE DID!!!! Your cheap-ass, penny-wise/pound-foolish lordship would rather squander our treasury in your black hole in Iraq. Same leadership and far-sightedness and shrewd management that led your three oil companies into bankruptcy.

OUT, george. OUT NOW!!!!!!!!

Visualize IMPEACHMENT!!!!!
Pass it on...

20. He was on VACATION and didn't want to deal with it in a timely
manner! The responsibility for the lack of planning and resources and resource management in a situation like this belongs DIRECTLY at the feet of the US President.

ANY OTHER LEADER would have been back at work ON FRIDAY giving ORDERS for preparations, planning, and rescue and would have been in or over NO on MONDAY to survey the damage - NOT WEDNESDAY!

They KNEW this thing was a CAT 5 and they KNEW WHERE IT WAS HEADED on Friday!

Aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggghhh! Is this man BRAIN DEAD?

Have Americans' standards slipped so low that they can continue to accept this ass-clown as a genuine leader?

If he doesn't have someone bail him out or tell him what to say and do, the "man" is completely without a clue.
