Iraqis 'must ask' for Saudi and Pakistan troops

PLANS for a multinational peacekeeping force in Iraq suffered a setback yesterday when Saudi Arabia and Pakistan said they would wait for an invitation from the Iraqi people before committing troops.

In a joint statement yesterday, the two countries expressed their reservations amid domestic opposition from Muslim conservatives towards sending troops to Iraq.

The decision comes after Turkey said it was reconsidering its decision to join the US-led coalition force following strong opposition from the Iraqi Governing Council.

The issue was also being debated in Japan last night with politicians split on whether or not to commit troops.

The news will come as a blow to the United States administration which only last week won unanimous support at the United Nations for a new resolution on Iraq, giving backing for a multinational peace-keeping force in the country.

Now the interesting thing is will Iraq ask the Saudi's for uh-humm troops.

The last time Saudi and Pakistan helped the US it was in Afghanistan during the 80's and look what the result was......muslim extremists, a theocracy and 9-11.

And now Bush wants to repeat it!!

...with Pakistan as the frontline "ally"...

Taliban is getting ever stronger in Afghanistan, Bin-Laden and his followers are moving around in the border areas of Afghanistan/Pakistan, and the religious parties (extremists bent on implementing the sharia) now control half the country of Pakistan.

..we can only imagine what will happen in Iraq if Pakistan sends its troops. We would all be wishing Saddam was back in power.
