then why couldn't the Red Cross get in to help people?????

a big Freeper organization...the HSUS should have been in charge of rescuing people too, then everyone would probably have been evacuated by now. The HSUS doesn't discriminate unlike the Republican party.

to HSUS for this rescue mission. I don't know how the Red Cross is run these days, but in the flooding of eastern KY in the 60's they came through and charged for their goods and services. I was about 7 and we were lucky enough to be above the flood waters with 5 other families taking refuge with us. Those seeking help from the RC then didn't have much to begin with (like those left in NO) and had lost all in the flood, but the RC expected payment before they would issue anything. Never had much use for them since then.

before because people are forced to abandon their pets before the storm. Actually, since many people DON'T evacuate because they wont abandon their animals it should be part of the evacuation plans of FEMA so people don't have that concern.

How many people will abandon their pet to die? I've heard the Pet expert say to at least let the animal go so they have a fighting chance to survive but with a hurricane coming, letting them free outside doesn't sound like much of a chance.

I heard a woman say she left her cat or dog in a pet cage on the washing machine. How much food could the poor thing have? Did she think she would be back the next day? It is so sad.

The story where the National Guard had to take a dog from a little boy when he was getting on a bus at the Superdome, the boy crying so hard he threw up and yelling the dogs name is just so heartbreaking. The poor kid has nothing and then they took his dog.

I didn’t recognize the youngish guy about 25 years old on my porch, so I opened my door with a little caution because unfamiliar people rarely come around and with everything going on and all. Anyway, he immediately asked if I had seen an orange Tabby cat named “Tigger”. He said he and his wife were evacuating because of Katrina and had left the cat with his sister 2 doors down the street from me. Sometime right after the storm, Tigger had ran out his sisters back door and gotten loose. The guy asked me if I would take a flyer with Tiggers picture, description and his phone # in case I saw him, and I said absolutely that I would do anything I could, and I walked to his truck where his wife was for the flyer. It was obvious they were very worried and upset. After I took the flyer I watch them go door to door and pass them around looking around bushes and between houses for Tigger. Well, at least Tigger will probably be OK even if they don’t find him because most people around here leave bowls of cat food on their porches. I sure hope they find their pet though.

right next to a highway surrounded by water. I 10? I hope they get help. God what a horrible way to die. I hope those FEMA fuckers let them in to do their jobs! :grr:
