U.S. diverting nuke subs to Pacific to keep China in check

WASHINGTON — The United States is strengthening its strategic nuclear capacity in the Pacific by diverting its strategic nuclear submarines from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and upgrading nuclear warheads, in an apparent move to keep China and North Korea in check, U.S. Congress sources and nuclear experts said Sunday.

12. It depends on how much they're keeping under wraps.
There are a number of reports of militarily significant resources shrouded in secrecy. It's unclear whether such would come into play in an offensive against China.

We'll not be attacking China anytime soon, they could break us economically if they called in our debt.

As things set now we consume their goods and they keep us afloat. Win - Win.

We bomb them, they call our debt, our economy crashes, we can't consume their goods. Lose - Lose. However, we lose the biggest.

I thought it was against their religion. Seriously China can shut us down any day they want to by simply embargoing us. With a few phone call they can get most of the Pacific Rim manufacturing nations to do the same.

We aint shit without China's exports anymore. They send us the gewgaws and toys and repair parts for damn near everything. If they shut that down we're screwed.

20. With The Clowns We Have In Power They Should Be.
Make no mistake about it. The US is still the preeminent power in the world when it comes to WMD and could destroy China several times over. Normally one wouldn't need to worry about such things because a nuclear exchange with China would be too costly to both sides of the conflict. With * in charge though there is a very big risk that ANYTHING could happen. We should all be quaking in our boots over the power that this man wields.

22. I think it's just posturing. The US looks pretty weak right now.
It is possible that canceling the Hu visit was part of the
posturing, or part of setting up the posturing. It's even
possible that Hu agreed to some posturing, he can use a good
external threat now & then too to keep his disgruntled
citizens in line.
