2. While Al Qaeda establishes cities.
I'm about THIS CLOSE to driving up to Montana, buying a rural farmhouse and a satellite phone, and ignoring the collapse of this country.

Tal Afar Panicking Residents Flee US Fire

Additional Reporting By Mazen Ghazi, IOL Staff

BAGHDAD, September6 , 2005 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) – A Fresh US and Iraqi offensive into the northern city of Tal Afar has sent90 percent of its population into panicky flight, while the rest are sending impassioned SOS messages as they were trapped inside homes by imposed curfews.

“We went to the neighboring city of Mosul several days ago as the US offensive was preceded by power and phone outages, the signs of a looming large-scale operation,” Abu Nabil told IslamOnline.net Tuesday, September6 .>snip<

>The city, which is close to the Syrian borders, has been under fierce US bombing and fire since Sunday, September4 .

Before the bombing, US helicopters dropped leaflets demanding locals to leave the city for their lives, witnesses told Al-Quds press.

US-backed Iraqi troops afterwards razor-wired and shut down city entrances and exits.

On Sunday, the US military said that US F- 16jet fighters dropped two bombs on the city, destroying a mosque and killing at least seven people.

Shame on me for not paying attention lately. Grief/outrage overload. What a freaking mess this world is right now.

Rest in peace, soldiers.

9. Too much at one
I hope you will not think me or my Germany a bad friend when I say I am so happy that our soldiers do not fight in Iraq. Gerhard Schroeder was too smart, but he loses the election soon anyway because of unemployment in the economy because big companies want to fire people.

Maybe the US is listening now when Europe says it is a "bad idea to go to Iraq. Do not go. We will not go." I know some people were listening but it seems not enough. Why?

12. Hallo Texas
Thank you for the friendly greetings. I visited here before but came back after hearing of how bad the government worked with the Hurricane Katrina after she destroys New Orleans. I think I will stay.

11. I hope the CDU doesn't win but I know it looks bad.
They will do nothing to help the people and everything to help the corporations.

Hello friend and thanks to all the Germans that opposed this unjust war!

I have some very good friends in Germany from Rhineland Pfalz and Hessen.

RIP to three more of our unfortunate troops, they died because of Bush's lies.

13. Thank you!
Sensible Americans here! We wish there were more and then maybe the two great countries would be better friends.

I too hope that the CDU loses in the regional (is this the right word?) elections and then in the national one too. Merkel will do badly I think. I don't believe they will lose much, though. I vote for the Greens mostly but they are weak today.

14. Welcome, mwwittin
I do not think you or Germany are bad friends. You are good friends, who tried to prevent a friend from engaging in criminal and stupid behavior. You have been friends to us, and I hope that we, the American people, continue to cherish and maintain your friendship.

The man who stole the presidency here is friend to no one but his own cronies, and has no interest in anything but destroying our Constitution and further enriching himself and his friends.

We here at DU are deeply sorry for the pain this so-called man has inflicted upon so many in the world, from our own citizens to the victims of his needless wars. I hope you continue to remain at DU. We need all the friends we can get right now.
