North Korea calls New Orleans America's Pompeii
20:33 | 06/ 09/ 2005

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - A North Korean radio station called New Orleans the American Pompeii Tuesday and blamed the Bush administration for the considerable loss of life in the disaster.

"The U.S. government has been neglecting the poor residents of New Orleans for a long time," the North Korean Central Radio station said, adding that the policies of the Bush administration "had become outdated" and, therefore, attract criticism.

"The U.S. government is suffering defeat after defeat, in the war in Iraq, in the fight with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina," the station said. "Consequently, it is facing a serious crisis conducting two wars at a time."

In the last few days, North Korean TV has been showing extensive footage of the areas in the United States affected by the natural disaster.

The United States and North Korea are formally in a state of war because since the three years of combat in Korea, the sides signed only a truce agreement in 1953. More than 30,000 U.S. troops are still stationed in South Korea to counter the alleged North Korean threat.

2. OMG. I NEVER thought I'd say this about *news* coming out of N. Korea...
...BUT...it's actually a PERFECT analogy. One of the best I've heard thus far.
