1. 40% seems high
shouldn't it be somewhere in the low 30s?

2. it's the lowest of all the polls that have come out in the past week
so take it for what it's worth. it should be lower, but we're getting into difficult territory trying to convert the Pat Robertson freakazoids.

8. The chimp does, indeed, have the
unwavering support of a minority who wouldn't abandon him no matter what. These numbers reflect those morons plus a sizable number of people who don't follow the news but would be inclined to say they support the "President" if asked by a pollster.

5. Read the Pew press release.
There is stunning data on the racial divide in opinions. Well, stunning but by no means surprising.

Where is Frances "rethug" Rice?

7. I agree -- it should be carefully studied. He is in the 30s (35-39%)
in his overall approval in all regions but the South (44% there).

28. So much for their loud boasting that they're making inroads with
African Americans - taking them away from the Dems. Not after THIS. That's all over. Bye-bye. And good riddance!! bush has NEVER cared that much for blacks. He's been conditioned since his earliest days (thank you, barbara bush) to regard ANYONE, or ANY GROUP, outside the bushes' own inner circle, as "the help." That's blacks, hispanics, many many whites, and women of every color. For starters.

10. And if this were any other pres., MSM would proclaim a "failed presidency"
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 02:00 PM by MrTriumph
If this were any other president, Larry King would have shows devoted to a failed presidency.

TIME magazine would have a picture of that president on the cover with bright yellow letters spelling out the line: HOW BAD CAN IT GET!?

11. the reversal is worth noting
from the document:

Bush job as president

-----------------Jan--May--July--Sept
Approve ------50---43---44---40
Disapprove --43---50---48---52

More people disapprove of him now than approved of him in January.

Fewer people approve of him now than disapproved of him in January.

There hasn't been a steady trend, but there's a distinct reversal.

Independents agree that he could have done more by an almost 3:1 margin.

news chanel, CNN has 1.5x as many people watching... Even before Katrina, Fox was still behind CNN.

14. This is really good news, IMHO - I know we would like to see rock-bottom
approval numbers - but after a big disaster like this, approval ratings generally skyrocket - remember the 91% post-9/11?

He got a little blip last week and now his approval is lower than ever.

And as the death count rises ( ) and the facts keep revealing themselves, the polls will sink even lower.

Approve anyway. Well, polls are like that. There are always some inconsistent results.

17. Of course not, but that's as high as the whorish media pollsters ...
can spin this and hope to maintain a shred of dignity.

The news it full of lies and distortions to make Bush-Co. sound competent. But everyone watching this FUBAR knows they're an unexperienced, screwed up bunch of "politically selected" cronies and mega-buck contributing a**holes.

I wonder how far the USA media is willing to spin and lie to the sheeple before we completely shut down on them?

18. Bush suffers in polls post-Katrina (Reuters)
By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent
9/8/05

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush's image suffered in public opinion polls taken after Hurricane Katrina hit the U.S. Gulf Coast, with some finding growing doubts about his leadership and the country's direction.

After a week of criticism for a slow response to the devastation caused by Katrina, polls released on Thursday registered drops in Bush's approval ratings and in confidence in his leadership.

A Pew Research Center poll found 67 percent of Americans believed Bush could have done more to speed up relief efforts, and just 28 percent believed he did all he could. His approval rating slipped to 40 percent, down four points since July to the lowest point Pew has recorded.

The Pew poll also found a shift in public priorities after Katrina caused a jump in gasoline prices last week, with a majority saying for the first time since the September 11, 2001, attacks that it was more important for Bush to focus on domestic policy than the war on terrorism.

"Americans are depressed, angry and very worried about the economic consequences of the disaster," said Andrew Kohut, director of the Pew poll.

A WEEK OF CRITICISM (more)

22. So, what do the 40% think he's doing for them?
Saving them money?
Stopping gays from screwing?
Stopping abortions?
Converting the pagans?
Bringing the world freedom? Religion? Democracy?

What do those 40 think he's doing? I'd really like to know.

It must just be the permission he gives them to hate and fear and sin. Nothing else makes any sense at all.

23. WORST.PRESIDENT.EVER

At least Bush the Sociopath is assured of his place in history.

I wonder if he sleeps well with the blood of 25,000-100,000 citizens on his hands in addition to the 100,000 Iraqis he has butchered. I think he does, as he is a sociopath.

Bush should be removed from office by reason of mental disability.

Damn straight. His cronies are rotting America's infrastructure and too many people STILL hype up walmart as being such a great place. (Those people should look outside the box or simply vote for their typical career politician and shut the F up about ANY issue altogether.)
