Premature infant returned to family after being separated during storm

Updated: 10:39 a.m. ET Sept. 9, 2005

NEW ORLEANS - ... Of the 121 babies evacuated from New Orleans to Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge following the storm, Barren (Snell) was the only one whose mother had not been found.

Until now.

1. good
but surely not the last baby separated from its parents. There were so many small children being handed toward the front of the bus lines at the Superdome that became cut off from their parents. I wonder about them. And so many children who surely lost parents and extended families. It will be some time yet before families are brought together and orphans are introduced to new homes.

The continuing disaster is heartbreaking.

2. The headline is as shown; text provided scopes it to...

"Of the 121 babies evacuated from New Orleans to Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge following the storm"

... so, yeah, I expect there are quite a few babies/children still separated from their parents.

Baby steps. (no pun intended)

3. Oh, I'm so happy about that. My friend was evac'd to
Women's hospital during the storm and had her baby. She's out of the hospital now and was in a hotel room in Baton Rouge until yesterday. She went to her brother's in TX because she said BR wasn't safe (alot of shooting). She was scared to stay there in the hotel with just her, a new baby and her daughter, while her husband tried to salvage what he could in NO. Her family home of 4 generations was destroyed, but the china hutch was still upright. Her husband is trying to recover her grandmother's china, so at least she'll have something.

5. That's NEWBORNS in BATON ROUGE
There are MANY more in hospitals in Texas and so many babies and children all over, still needing to be found.

At least it's wonderful that all of the hospitalized infants in Baton Rouge are now in the arms of their familes.

7. It's still sad to think of that one Mother
seperated from her baby maybe to an inability to get ahold of them....she doesn't have the money to make a phone call or get someone to help her.....I hope they find each other.
