NAUGATUCK -- The smooth sounds of Billy Joel's voice and piano on Friday night drifted over the Continental Room during a ball to celebrate Mayor Ron San Angelo's May re-election.

The Republican leaders and their supporters -- dressed primarily in dark, sparkling dresses and somber suits and ties -- were not celebrating four months after votes were counted because of any lack of preparation, organizers said.

The gap between the election -- which ended with a Republican mayor winning a second term for the first time in 38 years -- and Friday was to give competitive passions between parties time to settle, said San Angelo's campaign manager, W. Fran Dambowsky.

She wore a black dress picked out by the mayor himself.

"It was one of the first things he said after he asked me to the ball," Randis said. "He said he wanted to pick out the dress."

2. If anyone wonders whatever happened to Billy Joel, it would seem
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 11:10 AM by Judi Lynn
he's all tied up with Republican merry-making these days. Hope they will be few in the future.

These Republicans sound too smug, too lame, too pointless.

On edit: Did anyone notice this is the same town which has the unique honor of having elected the previous pervert, Republican Mayor Phillip Giordano, who had sexual relations with two little girls in his office? Surely you remember him!
The national media has chosen to not report any updates concerning Republican Mayor Phillip Giordano who has been charged with 13 Federal counts of using a phone to entice a child under age 16 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of civil rights violations under the "color of law", two counts of conspiracy, along with Connecticut State charges of six counts of sexual assault, six counts of risk of injury to a minor and six counts of conspiracy amid an apparent rash of sex charges of against the Catholic Church.

Many have wondered why this case has not recieved the national attention that other cases have, and some are beginning to suspect that the reason for the media silence may be the mid-term elections in November.

Though the Attorney General John Ashcroft had put these types of sex crimes ahead of terrorism before the 9/11 attacks he has shown little or no interest in this case regarding the prosecution of a fellow Republican. Many have found Mr. Ashcroft's indifference to this case rather remarkable and many point to the hypocracy of this Republican administration and their non-existent interest in prosecuting one of its own members of the Republican party, even after Bush's promise before the election of "leaving no children behind".

4. Yep, you're right.I got "Waterbury" from the location of the paper, itself
Sorry for the mistake. It's still good to be able to bring up the other Republican mayor, just for the hell of it, however.

Thanks for the illumination.

5. I find this strange:
"It was one of the first things he said after he asked me to the ball," Randis said. "He said he wanted to pick out the dress."

6. You don't see a lot of men choosing the clothes women should wear
to events. Usually they seem to feel the women are capable of making their own choices, and for good reason.

He sounds like a "control freak," and she sounds vapid.

7. I had an ex-boyfriend years ago who
Picked out and bought me one of the most gorgeous outfits I had ever owned. He took me to a Bobby Vinton concert. He surprised me with the outfit just a few hours before we were to go. I thought that it was the most thoughtful thing anyone had ever done for me...especially for us not being married. He treated me like I was royalty and I could kick myself in the ass for not marrying him.It wasn't that he didn't think I was capable of picking it out myself....he knew I couldn't afford a real expensive dress with me being a single mother of two.He was just like that,though....always wanting to surprise me and make me happy. I sure phucked up on that one.
