Eleven Priests in Chicago Area Remove

CHICAGO - Eleven priests suspected of sexual misconduct with minors more than 20 years ago have been barred from clerical work, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago said Monday.

The men cannot present themselves as priests, engage in public ministries or act as an agent of the archdiocese, although they have not been removed from the priesthood, said Chancellor Jimmy Lago."

10. No such thing as being "removed" from the priesthood

Once you're a Catholic priest, you're always a priest, even if you don't get to engage in any of the associated activities. These men will receive a salary from the Vatican for the rest of their lives.

3. The statute of limitations won't allow it.

In Illinois the statute states:

Prosecution for criminal sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault may be commenced within ten years of the commission of the offense if the victim reported the offense to law enforcement authorities within two years after the commission of the offense.

be filed retroactively, a huge blow to advocates trying to prevent child abuse.

7. Love thy neighbor, love thy parishioners, love thy evil ways.

They should all burn in hell if there is such a thing. Since it's doubtful, maybe they should be flogged every day at the crack of dawn and at sundown in the town square for all to see.
