Menezes' relatives due in London
Relatives of Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, shot dead by police on the Tube after being mistaken for a suicide bomber, are due to arrive in the UK.

The victim's parents, brother and four other family members are expected to visit Stockwell station, south London, where the 27-year-old was killed.

The family is also to get an update from the Independent Police Complaints Commission on its probe into the death.

Yeah, whatever happened to that investigation?

Maria Otone De Menezes, the victim's mother, said ahead of the family's departure from Sao Paulo: "We are going because we want justice."

Yes, we can hope....

1. Unspeakable behavior on the part of the police. Nothing can excuse it.
It's a horror that the government hasn't decided to rethink its policy, and hasn't made a complete, honest, forthright apology to this family for the vicious, fiendish treatment of their relative.

If he even HAD been the "enemy" they were seeking, they would still been evil incarnate to have dealt him this filthy, opportunistic murder.

The reign of terror started by the Neocons needs a swift conclusion.
I pray the world will be up to the task someday.

2. The "good news"
is it's still very much a topic of discussion in Britain.

3. update - relatives have arrived in London
The family has expressed a desire to see officers jailed over the killing, and has also called for the resignation of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair.

Mr Menezes' brother Giovani Da Silva said they hoped to meet senior figures from Scotland Yard while they were in the UK.

"We've come here to see what's going on. It's important for us to demand explanations," he said.

"They misled and cheated us. These things shouldn't happen and the truth needs to be told."
