Swaggart, investors settle suit over lease option

The Associated Press
BATON ROUGE, La.
The Rev. Jimmy Swaggart's church has agreed to pay $600,000 to buy out the final month of a lease option on two buildings it owns and says it will lease them to federal agencies involved with hurricane relief.

The Family Worship Center Church Inc. has said the cafeteria and gymnasium currently house hurricane relief workers, firefighters and utility linemen, and accused the investment group that sued them of trying to profit from the suffering of Hurricane Katrina's victims.

Health Sciences Park, which had proposed the site as a new location for the charity hospital in Baton Rouge, had accused the church of reneging on a land deal because real estate values in Baton Rouge soared after the hurricane.

State District Judge Janice Clark had scheduled a hearing Monday on the lawsuit, but representatives for both sides met in private and worked out the agreement.

1. Swaggart won't be the only one crying over reimbursement of religion
It's right in front of our eyes and will make Teapot Dome look like an overturned dessert bowl.

4. Hi-yo Silver! Away
In an interview she gave in Penthouse magazine, Murphree claimed that Swaggert made inquiries about her nine year old daugter. Swaggert was also a cheap customer as he tried to haggle Murphree down from $20 to $10 during one particular session. Swaggart said that since on that particular day he only wanted her to pose for him, it shouldn’t cost more than $10. Murphree stuck to her minimum of $20 and I’m sure there was no tip.
But Jimmy-boy was not finished with his sinful ways.

In 1989, Catherine Campen did an interview for Penthouse magazine claiming she had carried on a six month affair with Swaggart. She further claimed that Swaggert tricked her into sadomachistic acts including whipping Swaggert with a riding crop. Hi-yo Silver! Away

5. Oh, this is too predictable! He was a hypocrite, too! He looked down on
Jim Bakker when he was caught with his own fundie fun-girl, Jessica Hawn. From the article you just posted:
On the Larry King Show, Swaggart called Bakker a “cancer in the body of Christ.”
THAT'S one for the books.

2. $600,000 for ONE month rental of gym and cafeteria? How much
are they going to be getting from the Fed gov't instead? Certainly bears watching.

3. I'll bet his son won't forgive him for that. Boinking a hooker is one
thing, but pissing away 600 grand of the family treasury is something else entirely.
