Poll: Support for Miers not as high as that for Roberts

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Americans, particularly conservatives, are less supportive of President Bush's nominee to the Supreme Court than they initially were for his nomination of John Roberts, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Tuesday night.

The poll, taken Monday and Tuesday, indicated many people are concerned about Miers' lack of judicial experience.

Asked to rate Bush's nomination of Miers, 44 percent of those polled described it as excellent or good, while 41 percent said it was fair or poor and 15 percent had no opinion.

Among respondents who described themselves as conservative, 58 percent said the Miers pick was excellent or good, and 29 percent thought it was only fair or poor. By contrast, 77 percent of conservatives in a July poll thought the Roberts nomination was excellent or good, and just 13 percent found it fair or poor. 1. Their base is stunned and angry....at least a significant portion of them
Some will grudgingly come back, but this move will automatically reduce Republican turnout in 2006. They were begging for a fight so they could nuke the filibuster and shove our faces in it. Looks like if there is a filibuster, it'll be led by Republicans!

Thats what happens when a fool gets pretentious. Bush though he was showing his "genius" and got egg in the face.

2. The Repugs are finding out what we already knew. Bush will screw anyone.
Even his own.

He's cooked himself this time.

3. You know what I really hate about the media?
What the hell does a poll mean at this point? No one knows a damn thing. They should spend that money and air time telling us what we should know, not asking us what we think. They make people think they're opinions are more important than facts. Which is why we wind up with jackasses like Bush in the first place. If the media had been honest, had said that Bush was a complete failure at every step of his career, was stupid, couldn't put sentences together, still drank, had no experience to even slightly qualify him for the job, and was faking his accent anyway, maybe we could have gotten a serious Republican candidate and had a serious nation debate which could have led to a real understanding of issues and an honest idea of which way the nation wanted to head, based on facts and logic.

Instead, the media just asks what everyone thinks and then elevetes those opinions to the level of real news, and people get the idea that facts and reality aren't important, only their gut instincts and prejudices. So people wind up voting for people they know nothing about because they'd like to have a beer with the Hollywood image of them. And then hundreds of thousands of people worldwide die due to incompetence.

Our Founders would never have given us a democracy if they had known what the media would be like.
