PFAW response to false RNC charges --- Janice Brown cartoon
This must be the cartoon that Orrin Hatch displayed during her hearing, trying to paint her opposition as racist. They tried the same thing with Estrada, I don't think it will work this time either...

WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a statement of the People For the American Way:

The Republican National Committee today falsely accused People For the American Way and the NAACP of distributing a cartoon publicized by Republican Senators in connection with the judicial nomination of Janice Rogers Brown. Enclosed is a letter demanding a retraction and an apology, noting that the RNC's false charges appear to be part of an "effort to distort and divert attention from principled opposition" to Brown's confirmation.

1. Right so they did
They cartoon is totally unafilliated with those two organizations. Orrin Hatch is out for character assasination and are trying to lump the left with that cartoon which is totally false. This is purely for political points. The conservatives are jumping ALL OVER this one.

I have a feeling that Feingold is going to filibuster it. He didn't look to happy when he was questioning her during the hearing.

Fox News is playing it ALL DAY!!!

2. Can they sue?
Seems like real harm would ensue from such lies.
