Arar says he's being smeared by leaks

Maher Arar, who was whisked to Syria from the U.S. last year, feels he's being smeared by leaks alleging he gave Syrian authorities information about the al-Qaeda terrorist network, a family spokeswoman said Friday.

Kerry Pither said Mr. Arar, who has been in seclusion in Ottawa since he was unexpectedly released from Syrian detention this month, believes he's the victim of a campaign aimed at ruining his credibility.

She said he won't talk until he feels psychologically and physically healthy enough to do so. Meanwhile, though, he's being tarred as an “al-Qaeda rat” by anonymous sources.

1. I find these "leaks" about Mr. Arar outrageous, if they have anything...

charge him, if not, releasing this crap gives their leaks less credibility, not more.
