Bush To Take On War Critics
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 09:11 AM by Mark E. Smith
AP 10/6

President Bush is stepping up his defense of his Iraq policy as he faces declining public support for the war and a crucial test in Iraq with the Oct 15 constitutional referendum.

Aides said Mr. Bush would take on war critics directly in a speech on Iraq and the broader war on terrorism Thursday before the National Endowment for Democracy.

Mr. Bush got briefed Weds on Iraq by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and Gen David Petraeus and said he was pleased with the progress in the training of Iraqi troops. "The Iraqis are showing more and more capability of taking the fight to the enemy," the president told reporters. "As they become more capable, we will be able to bring folks home."

He did not offer a timetable.

3. Is it just me or could every point he's making be turned around and
used against this administration too? He is guilty of most of the things he's accusing the "terrorists" of doing. I guess it takes one to know one.

4. With God (ah-mighty) on his side, how can he lose?
With God calling the shots here - as in starting two wars- He's probably just biding His time for Social Security piratization too.

5. Bush is somewhat correct. Iraqis are taking the fight to the enemy...
The enemy they see is the USA.

The insurgency proves that Iraqis will fight if they believe in their leadership and cause. The fact that the Bush-supported Iraqi government can't keep more than 1 battalion of troops loyal to them, just proves the illegitamacy of that government.
