ALSTEAD, N.H. — Gov. John Lynch said Wednesday he is encouraged by progress restoring power and getting help to flood-ravaged southwestern New Hampshire, but said two more people might be missing and rain in the forecast could very likely lead to new flooding.
"We´re in a very volatile weather pattern right now and we could be seeing upwards of 5 to 7 inches of rain in various parts of New Hampshire," Lynch said by telephone as he left Concord for Alstead.
Rain began falling Wednesday morning in the Keene-Alstead area, and the National Weather Service said there could be another 3 to 6 inches in the next several days. Flood watches were announced for several areas.
Forecasters said the outlook was serious.
