DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Democratic senator and potential 2008 presidential candidate said Thursday that White House political adviser Karl Rove must step down if he is linked to the leaking of a CIA operative's name.

Rove faces a fourth grand jury appearance in the investigation of the leaking of CIA officer Valeria Plame's name after her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, criticized the Bush administration's policies in Iraq.

"Even if he's not indicted, if it appears that a top adviser to the president of the United States was trying to harm someone personally for having a different public policy point of view, that's unacceptable behavior in the White House," Sen. Evan Bayh said.

The Indiana senator said Bush's strategists have divided the nation for short-term political gain...

1. Interesting this coming as it is from Evan Bayh. He doesn't say
anything unless he feels it's safe to do politically. Guess Evan's moving leftwards and that tells me something about where he thinks the country's at.

2. Didn't some senators send a petition MONTHS AGO to the WH to FIRE Rove
when he was named as the leaker by Cooper?

Bayh should have signed it back then when he was asked. I know thousands of us here did.

5. Right, Kerry circulated one. I don't know if Bayh signed or not.
My guess is he didn't. Hence his statement now.

23. No, his name is "Eye-ben Baught"...
Everytime he tries to act like a Democrat, the LTTE page of the Indystar explodes with all the "Ha-rummpf! How DARE he forget who put him in office!" letters.... Probably from Pfizer or Eli Lilly execs...

That's telling, in and of itself....

Please find somewhere else to send him. Indiana doesn't want him back, as we have enough Republicans here already...

15. My fear isn't another terror alert...
It's that the men behind the curtain will realize that just another alert won't distract the media or the sheeple this time.

An attack on the Homeland will serve many purposes, far beyond just distracting the media. It will also allow the Fascists to deploy the military - primarily around large metropolitan areas where most of the liberals live - and anyone who disapproves of the deployment is a terrorist sympathizer who hates America.

It might be time for the Reichstag Congress to burn.

Birch and Marvella Bayh were wonderful, passionate people. I guess their boy Evan is missing the "gut and spine" gene. The more I see him, the less impressed I am.

13. I saw him on CSPAN at one of the "On the Campaign Trail" things in
NH, I think it was, and some lady asked him to comment about the stolen election in Ohio. He said something like "with all due respect for your concern, I do not believe there is anything that would lead us to think that it was stolen". I gave up on him there.

10. Evan Bayh is a very good guy.
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 12:43 PM by longship
I usually do not like DLC PAC people. But I've heard Bayh speak and have talked with him. The guy's the real deal. What you see is what you get. Unlike many of the DLC PAC, he's not a monolithic centrist robot. He's moderate, but not pedantic about it. He's very smart and would be a good candidate for pres. I could comfortably support him if he got the nomination for pres even though I do not agree with him on all issues.

on edit: BTW, I am a liberal.

sending emails with petitions and making floor speeches about that.

At one of the press events of the Senate leadership, Kerry asked Rove's head again and Hillary seemed to agree.

Nice to see that Bayh seems to be agreeing, though he is more reserved (we know the man was involved, why does he say: if he is involved).

31. He has said that in many venues. but the media are not reporting
what the Dems are saying.

Take an example that is not directly related to Kerry. Kennedy gave yesterday an interview to AP. You may think that AP would ask probing questions and report them. I do not know what questions they asked, but the only thing they reported is that scoop (:sarcs,:) that Kennedy would support Kerry.

So dont expect that Kerry gets a lot of media.
