Miers Looked Close to Home for Free Cases
WASHINGTON (AP) - Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers looked close to home, or the office, in choosing the free legal cases to take on as a private lawyer. No sweeping constitutional matters for her, or even terribly contentious ones.

She helped a garage attendant for her building complete an adoption. She won a case for a Nigerian woman who was fighting a deportation order. She lost when representing an indigent single mother denied disability benefits.

``She handled small matters,'' said lawyer Jerry Clements, who has worked with Miers. ``Somebody needed a divorce, somebody needed an adoption.''

1. Why does Miers remind me
of a hapless real estate lawyer trying to represent his brother in law in a high profile homicide case in NYC? That was on Law & Order years ago, and the great Jerry Stiller played the part. I can picture Miers having that attorney's ineptness if she gets on the SCOTUS.

4. Then let's send her off to the library
and find someone who can do the job.

2. Minor legal skills, minor cases.
Ms. Miers doesn't believe in stretching herself, apparently.

I will add, those cases weren't minor to the parties involved, but for someone who is supposedly the intellectual giant in the mutual mental masturbation society to which Miers and bush belong, she doesn't seem to have what it takes to tackle the tough cases.
