Sen. Frist says acted properly in HCA stock sale
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said on Tuesday he was cooperating with federal investigators looking into possible insider stock trading, but he would not say whether he has been subpoenaed in the case.
....
"I am cooperating fully with the inquiry that is under way," said Frist, a Tennessee Republican and possible 2008 presidential candidate. He added, "I acted properly at every point."

The sales were initiated this spring, according to Frist, and completed just days before HCA's stock price fell sharply on a disappointing July 13 profit outlook.

Last week, sources close to the case said the SEC had subpoenaed Frist's records. Asked on Tuesday whether he had been subpoenaed to answer questions, Frist said it was not appropriate to discuss specifics of the investigation.

5. Strategy of the guilty.
The more guilty you are, the louder you proclaim your innocence.

Just like the White House and the Plame leak.

Just like Delay and Abramoff.

Their credibility is zero. I no longer listen to them.

Frist Predicts Full Exoneration
Majority Leader Breaks Silence on HCA Probes

October 19, 2005

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) said Tuesday he is providing federal investigators documents related to his sales of stock in his family’s hospital chain “as fast as possible” and predicted he would be completely exonerated in the case.

In his first extended question-and-answer session with reporters in almost a month, Frist pledged his full cooperation with the two entities probing his stock transaction, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan. Frist, who received an SEC subpoena for personal financial documents earlier this month, declined to specify when or if he will be interviewed by investigators. ........

“I acted properly, and I want this information to get out and let this process work. I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m just asking for fair treatment,” said Frist...Other than fielding brief questions as he’s briskly moved through the Capitol hallways, Frist had not responded to queries about the issue since the investigations were first announced, sending out his lieutenants to the press briefings...Frist had not done any other press conferences since the scandal broke, although he did engage in a bit of campaign activity over the weeklong recess, prompting a report in the Miami Herald that Frist aides misdirected a reporter in order for the Majority Leader to avoid questions....As such, Tuesday marked Frist’s initial time answering questions from reporters on the issue, during which he mainly stuck to the themes he outlined weeks ago in his first public statements in the Crypt.

“I am cooperating fully with the inquiry that is under way. As I said, I am cooperating at every point. I am absolutely confident of the outcome,” Frist said Tuesday. ....

8. Is the SEC as corrupt as every other government entity?
If it is he is probably right. But I hope the time has come for all of these criminals.

19. He could just be blowing smoke, using the DeLay technique
When your ass is hanging out, red and festered, pay it no mind, and ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK.

We will see if he does have a fix in, or he is just trying to BS the public....

15. Oh well, that's it, then
The Senate Majority Leader has weighed in on the case, and as the high priest said, what further need have we of witnesses? Sorry to trouble you, Dr. Frist. Here, can we pay your attorney's fees?
