Recent GOP Spending Cut Proposals Not Enough, Say Groups
Conservatives to Hold Press Conference on Capitol Hill Thursday; Recent Republican Spending Cut Proposals Not Enough, Say Groups

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=55266

The American Conservative Union, The Heritage Foundation, Family Research Council and the Club for Growth, on behalf of a number of conservative organizations will hold a press conference on Thursday, October 20 at 10 a.m. at 2261 Rayburn House Office Building to challenge Congress and the Bush Administration to rein in federal government spending.

<snip>

"Our government has become so entangled in the forest of deficit spending that it seems to have lost any sense of discretion," says ACU's chairman David Keene. "Plans to offset federal spending on Katrina disaster relief and reconstruction such as the recent proposals made by the House Republican Study Committee, as well as the proposals put out forward by Speaker Hastert and Majority Leader Blunt are a good start. But, organizations like ACU, Heritage, and the Club for Growth are concerned that these measures will do little to really reduce the out-of-control spending and $7.99 trillion federal debt. Much more must be done."

1. All they are doing
is skinning a few small potatoes types that can't fight back. Robbing the church mice isn't going to get them out of this budget mess.

2. So why don't they say NO to tax cuts?
Yes, that's a rhetorical question.

3. The GOP is the party of deceit spending
Lying about the reasons for spending,

Lying about the amount of spending,

Lying about where the money comes from,

Lying about where the money is spent,

Lying about the impact to working Americans.

4. If we're gonna cut, we gotta bite the bullet...
...and cut defense.

It is the only thing that makes sense. I'm not talking about cutting health benefits for defense department employees, either, that's just shifting cost. We need to cut the big programs like new nuke development, star wars and advanced weapon systems.

We could cut a long, long way and still be number one by a long shot.
