Jesse Jackson Jr. Throws His Support to Dean
By JODI WILGOREN

Published: October 28, 2003

CHICAGO, Oct. 27 — Representative Jesse L. Jackson Jr. said Monday that he would soon endorse Howard Dean for the Democratic presidential nomination, telling a mostly black audience on the South Side of Chicago that Dr. Dean had "the best chance to be the next president of the United States."

"I'm not wasting my time with any more non-straight-talking candidates," Mr. Jackson said in introducing Dr. Dean, a former governor of Vermont, to a group of about 150 people at Chicago State University.

"I've seen him stand up for health care," he said. "I've seen him stand up for students. I've seen him stand up for ordinary Americans. I'm asking you to stand up for Howard Dean."

The support of Mr. Jackson, the son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, has been coveted by several presidential contenders in part because he carries some of the imprimatur of his father. He said after Dr. Dean's 45-minute question-and-answer session that he would "make it official in the next 7 to 14 days."

6. Yes, that can be a good thing.
Also, Howard strikes a fair balance. I think he has a good message.

But, then, I think all of the Democratic candidates have good points to make. This debate process is counter productive. The worst thing they can do is to attack each other.

That is a bad thing.

16. Not at all - the debate process is very healthy
Not only healthy for the Dems, who desperately need to figure out if they're going to be Republican Lite or a viable alternation. But also healthy for the nearly 50% of the nation that is being exposed weekly to searing criticism of Bush through the debates - criticism they will scarcely hear otherwise through mainstream media.

came from the stupid show Inside Edition and got lucky. He was raised in one of the nicer areas of Long Island and his daddy wasn't middle class or poor by a long shot. If you listen to that jerk who did nothing for this country, including not serving in the military and going after ShowBiz people who were trying to get funds to the 9-11 victims families then I understand why you are posting what you're posting.
I have NO need to listen to some lucky , flavor of the month for any reason. I do my own research and make up my own mind. I also don't follow or love any one political figure either. I know why they do what they do and consider it par for the course. Illusion is not used only in magic acts.

76. Hitler's ideology was fascism. It was corporatism + a belief in ethnic,
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 01:24 PM by w4rma
cultural and religious superiority.

fascism = totalitarianism + capitalism according to Mussolini and FDR
capitalism and socialism are opposite ends of an axis.
democracy and dictatorship/monarchy are opposite ends of another axis.

A state can be totalitarian and capitalist (fascism):

“Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.” -- Benito Mussolini

“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself. That, in its essence, is Fascism -- ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.” -- Franklin D. Roosevelt

A state can be totalitarian and socialist (communism)
A state can be democratic and capitalist.
A state can be democratic and socialist.
A state can be anywhere inbetween the two axis. The U.S. has both capitalist policies and socialist policies.

Here is a list of some of the socialist ones:
socialized armed forces
socialized water
socialized police
socialized fired department
social(ized) security
medicare
road building/maintanance
public waste and water treatment
public schools

If the story is true its true the only thing is they would be getting sued for liable by him if it wernt, this media bias only pertains to what they choose to cover and with how much tenacity. As long as shits not made up (coulter) than who gives a shit where it comes from, you know the game from the left and from the right there is no center you have to balance it yourself.

Dean aupport at RI Dominican Festival...

http://www.rifordean.org/PostNuke/html/modules.php?set_albumName=album02&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

Dominican festival another RIFD success

Rhode Island for Dean (RIFD) had an information booth at Festival Dominicano de Rhode Island last Sunday at Roger Williams Park. Howard Dean was the only presidential candidate who was represented there.

The festival, which brought over 15,000 people together, was very important for the Dean candidacy since Providence is the home of one of the largest Dominican communities in the United States and is the only city with a Dominican City Councilman, State Representative and State Senator. We hope to continue building political alliances with the growing Dominican and Latino communities in the United States.

A few Rhode Island for Dean “regulars” were joined by Maryelyn and Eulogio Acevedo, who introduced us to dozens of people from the Latino community in Rhode Island. They campaigned enthusiastically and vigorously for Dean throughout the day. Matthew Jerzyk, Director of Jobs With Justice, also contributed his time and effort to the cause, as did Juan Ruben Gallardo and Saul Urbina. They distributed hundreds of flyers and spoke about the candidate to many, many people in the crowd of thousands who were at the festival. George Lally, a new member of RIFD, was there and he too did a great job.

Thank you! Thank you to all of these wonderful people who came out to support Dean.

More..

87. Is it that big of a deal...................
sure i spell bad, yes and im a professional writer so ive developed the useful trait of continuing on till prose completion and then editing however, to spend limited time alotted to me and use it editing informal messages isnt really sensible, however at 80 words per minute ill leave the spelling errors consider it avant garde (S.O.C.)

"to spend limited time alotted to me and use it editing informal messages isnt really sensible"

Out of courtesy to your audience, you could translate it.

-Medal of Honor-
By Derrick Lang

The celebratory hour of attainment of the seventy-fifth year, and yet not a sign of degenerative dotage could be attested to, Considered to be a milestone even by his insouciant mind’s cynical beliefs. Count one more accolade for the man who brooked through life and conquered the average expectancy of existence. He spent the entire day so far in a wainscoted bedroom, entrance willfully left ajar, staring at honorary degrees, sports palms from his youthful days of rugby, but most importantly his congressional medal of honor.
Inhumed memories of the tribulation circa nineteen forty-four gave way to stolid reactions, immobile stance and eyes a gaze into the abyss. His intellect had gone awry searching for retrospective comprehension. The advantageous chance to view the sunrise through the glistening jalousie of the infirmary, or yet the honor obtained in a soldiers omega through the capriciousness of the battlefield. The once menacing left hand that reft and fired his first kill’s K-32 Krieghoff Luger at Normandy, now thinly grasped a half-empty seidel. Slightly inebriated his mind attentively paid homage to the interior anomalies that he neglected to amend.
The phone rang startling him out of his aloof state. “Hello,” He said, sitting down in his recliner.
“Hi Dad, Happy birthday old man,” his son spoke.
“Hello Daniel.”
“Me and Sue were wondering if you wanted to go out for you sweet-sweet grand old seventy-fifth,” Daniel Chuckled.
The old man let out an apologetic sigh. “Daniel I’m not much up for it today, been a bit, a bit under…the weather.”
“Well we can drop by around--.”
“How about some other time Danny boy. I’m just so tired, thanks for calling but I’m just a little tired, ill give you a ring later, ” With that the Senior bid his only child goodbye. The memory of his squad would not cease. Everyone from the acerbic Lieutenant Morgan to Captain Fairchild, but most importantly his own brother Jonah Everest, came rushing to him as raindrops in a great flood of memories.
For months now the aging ex-G.I. made numerous otiose efforts to confabulate all to no avail. Even the incessant consumption of holy fermented grain, became abortive after the perpetual pattern of aurora and eventide. Eventually his will failed and his mind drifted into a state of abstract sentience.
“Private Everest!” A mail carrier shouted as he threw a letter onto a young private’s gurney. The young man unenthusiastically opened the envelope. The world was still in jubilation, the Great War was over the axis was now defunct, yet Franklin Everest was still confined to an infirmary in France; his excitement was transient at best. As he unfolded the letter he immediately saw the White house letterhead and a salutation Dear Private 1st class Everest.
I take pride in informing you that the President of the United States has awarded you the Medal of Honor with citation to yourself, Private first class Franklin Everest, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of your life above and beyond the call of duty in action against enemy German forces at Normandy, the northwest coast of France, 6 June 1944.
In accordance with custom, this Headquarters wishes to arrange a formal presentation of the medal and citation to you under such conditions and at such place as may suit your wishes and convenience.
I tender my sympathy and condolence in your bereavement over the loss of your platoon.

Sincerely General Abraham Brigham
A grin briefly made an appearance, before the thoughts Jonah and his opinions. His fists clenched together, fingernails digging into his palms, a masochistic attempt at distraction to fight back the tears swelling in his eyes. He folded the citation and held it in his hand. Tears trickling down his cheek he muttered, “God I miss you! With all the strength his shrapnel ridden body could muster he made a futile effort to reach for his brothers picture, that lay what seemed like an infinity of inches away.
The servile soldier sat idle overlooking the headstones of causalities from conflicts passed. The reverberation of the seventeen gun salute for general Brigham; still echoed inside his head. In stark contrast to the somber toned, marathon of small memorials he attended for his infantry comrades. Families of the deceased and onlookers trekked through the grounds, ignorant of the aloof senior citizen clinching a glistening medal. Raindrops trickled down his forehead galling his eyes. With a coup d'oeil his faculty received a wake up call and placed the medal in his pocket; He languished from head to toe, collapsing onto the damp soil. Hands now mired, he stroked his fingertips through the dirt that imprisoned his kin. Slowly he desired to no longer wage war on the essence of the warriors manifesto.
‘Here Lies Jonah Everest’, the realization Unfathomable even after more than a half-century. “Jo-Jo-nah,” he muttered summoning all the strength afforded to him. Soiled hands now covering the departure date. “O, O brother, I’m so, so very sorry.” Now the fluids that enriched the earth, aggregated with the teardrops of a deprived soul.
With a swig of whiskey from his kettler flask memories became crystal clear. Eyes still heavy at six-thirty a.m. the two brothers hunkered together. Both their lineaments strewn with sand, blinding their peripheral vision. “Stay down!” the elder private commanded his brother, with his cubitus forcefully doing so, had the younger not obliged. A rapid glance up could be a death wish. Wandering German artillery shells seem to take out the first infantry haphazardly. Clutching his m-one Garand, Jonah Everest arose firing aimlessly at the bluffs.
While his brother advanced only a few meters, young Everest lay frozen attempting to allay the surrounding ambience; shells separated soldier’s extremities, splattering their life fluid onto his fatigues. Surely it’s all just an excessively realistic lucid dream; and they’re still at their small ranch home in Ohio. Mom would be awakening them any second for breakfast, sausage omelets with blueberry flapjacks, which was her own specialty. He became disquieted when he couldn’t spot Jonah through the haze of gun smoke and spewing earth. “Jonah! Jonah!”
An opened hand rap on his shoulder startled him, “Stay the hell down, Wait till I--.” In brevity his brother paused, immediately collapsing onto Private Everest. “Jo-Jo,” he whispered to himself. “Jo-Jo! Get Up Joe.” Shaking his brother violently to get up to no avail, he shouted at his comrades, “Help! Someone! No response, pleas deafened by the cacophonies of warfare. “God! Why him! Help please anything help please, do it!” he pleaded to the heavens pounding his brother’s chest plate, as acute pains ravaged his dorsum.
Doing away with plebian sentiments, he wailed as if he were a newborn. Clutching the headstone as if it were going to vanish. “I’m so sorry,” he said while simultaneously hawking phlegm. “I didn’t deserve it. All I did was survive.” His arbitrary quest for brotherly absolution had rattled him. An open hand clutched his stomach moments before disgorgement, throughout the quick involuntary act he never managed to release his tight grip on the decanter; which contained but a few drops. “I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to,” he apologetically uttered while rummaging back his forelock.
“I-I should have been the one. Jo-Jonah I know, please…forgive….”
Plagued by opinions that he failed miserably the expectations of his tutelary. Out of all deleterious pursuits he had undertaken only now did the storming of the German defilade, seem to matter, for only it clamed the throne of the non-abdicable of memories. “It’s my…Fault. I knew it was an error, or-or-or some--.” With a flood of tears to accompany the monsoon of guilt he pulled his medal from his coat pocket. As he stared at the eagle perched on a cross cannon. He could only utter the words “NO.” As he turned it over he released it from his grip. In what seemed like an instant the highest of honors sat there in the grass face down reading, ‘The Congress To.’ The eternal indelible name inscription now had a sticker over it ‘Jonah Everest’.
In his trembling left hand he held his prized spoil, the Krieghoff Luger. Its thin bore hadn’t ejected a single slug in over half a century. “Brother, I wonder if this old thing still works.” He brought the barrel upwards to his sweaty temple. The years of uselessness had to in some manner come to a conclusion tonight. “I never deserved this! I appreciated it all Jonah, I swear to you.” As he erected his posture he distinctly spoke, “but you did.” With one shot a thunders of hundreds of decibels echoed across the quaint landscape. As the smoke arose and disappeared, he stood with an altitudinous left arm. “But you did. Thank You.” Finally a smile appeared as he placed the gun barrel down into the soil. “Good Job Soldier,” he said as he saluted his long gone brother, with mettlesome honor.

32. Wow, must be too early for the Dean haters...
But never too early for a freeper who can't spell.

I like JJ's reasons for endorsement..."I've seen him stand up for health care," he said. "I've seen him stand up for students. I've seen him stand up for ordinary Americans. I'm asking you to stand up for Howard Dean."

Great news!

Jesse Jackson Jr. is very down to earth.

Health care is a big issue with him, so I can see why he would endorse Dean.

JJ Jr. is really popular with the seniors around here.

42. Jesse Jr. is a rising star of the Democratic Party
Unlike his father, he actually has been elected to office, serving as U.S. Representative from Chicago since 1995.

Although not quite the orator his father is, he's very well spoken, as you know if you've ever heard him interviewed on TV.

Plus, as a member of a subcommittee on small business, he's done a lot to help businesses in his home district, including the poorer neighborhoods of Chicago.

An endorsement from Jesse Jr. is a valuable feather in Dr. Dean's cap.

48. i agree
he is a rising star although i consider harold ford jr to be much more pragmatic i'm worried about dean getting affected by this endorsement because of the timing. If this was the general elec. i wouldnt be as worried, im just scared going into iowa the associasiont people have with him and his dat henceforth rainbow push. Then there was that whole deal about the night club fire and the owner being a huge donor to jrs campaign nonetheless i think this does dean no good at the moment, if you weigh it out. Thats just my opinion and ill still support dean until the end.

You can use neoglisms okay i dont know if youre a lexicologist ill assumenot. you see each year dictionaries add neoglisms (new words or uses for words) see thats how this thing we have called language grows. Did i say it was in the dictionary no? becaus eits a fresh new neoglism but its a word and portmanteau see look it reall is Center+Intrest oh my God it works. However Centerist is not either way and centrist is in the lexicon. I know its far to elaborate i just like to amuse myself with wordplay, its not like im using anagrams or anything.

If you are citing Newsmax as a source you lost credibility with me, browse the LBN thread, you will notice noone is posting news stories from Mother Jones or some left wing news site. It is all reputable news sources. Plus the story you posted from Newsmax was a letter or something like that from a pro-war revered blasting black leaders for being anti-war.

ALAN COLMES is the TRUE liberal savior - all others are moneychangers in the temple, idols at best...

Take that back at ONCE. I expect a lengthy Derrickian essay praising Alan Colmes on my desk by morning, or i'll start jamming your RUSH LIMBAUGH broadcasts.

"nice guy" - humph. I'll have you know that ALAN COLMES kept me alive during the war.

I'll have you know that ALAN COLMES is the only thing standing between you and a fascist dictatorship!

The NERVE of some people, to dismiss Alan Colmes... damning him with such faint praise.

151. he is NOT Hannity's bitch... he is a strong, articulate voice for the left
quite frankly, his voice gives me an erection. And I'll be damned if some Hannity-come-lately comes between me and my hardon.

You owe Mr. Colmes an apology, sir!

Good heart? He is almost as pure as a Vermont snowfall, a beacon of hope in a world gone mad.

Mr. Clean has a "good heart" - That guy that delivers your mail has a "good heart" - but Alan Colmes... he IS the heart. The very soul of Democratic Party.

81. Jackson Jr. is rock solid!
He has a 100 percent voting participation record, and more importantly, he's one of us. Look at his ratings at VoteSmart:
http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=BC028365#Liberal

Maybe the dad's star attitude annoys you, but the son is fighting the good cause in our government.

We have other fine candidates in the race. I like JJjr because he is one of us and you can drag his father down all you want, I don't care this is a GREAT endorsement for Dean.

100. oh my God you a great spinner...
It was a hypothetical question, let me break it down If Pat Robertson endorsed a canidate i would think (if i were your typical voter) hmm his agenda isnt in line with mine and i dont want anyone amendable to the right, ie he loses my vote. Its hypothetical if the people have antipithy towards the whole family and rainbow push it could damge the only hope you guys have in ousting dubya

Perhaps you missed the wetback and hubcaps comments. Perhaps you don't pay attention to how he goes on about rap this rap that but never brings up heavy metal which can have just as vile lyrics as rappers. Now you have been funny since you been here but please stop, I can't stop laughing.

So my daily digests includes levine and goldman to fox and rush

129. Here is why
"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."
