Heinz air crash death suit (was) settled for $15 million
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05298/594599.stm

A lawsuit filed by Teresa Heinz Kerry after her first husband died in a midair collision in 1991 was settled for $15 million, according to newly unsealed court records.

She sued the owners of the airplane on which her husband was traveling, as well as the owners of the helicopter involved in the crash.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, errors in judgment by pilots of both aircraft caused the crash that killed U.S. Sen. John Heinz and six others -- including two first-graders on the ground.

Attorneys for The Philadelphia Inquirer sought to unseal the settlement papers last year when U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., ran for president; Sen. Kerry married Heinz's widow in 1995.

8. And??
He was father to children ... Why should they NOT sue the people responsible for thie father's death? Apparently the jury thought there was blame to be assigned.. Pretty much EVERYONE in PA knew the Heinz family was a rich family when they voted on the jury to award them the money..

I am sure that the heinz family has donated way more than the 15Millon they were awarded..

10. I doubt that Theresa cares what Freepers think. She is a great
lady in my book. She is outspoken when it counts, humanitarian, eloquent, graceful, and real. Her children show how down to earth she is and what a great mother. In addition two really intelligent statesmen have chosen her as an equal partner.

13. And all those idiot freeps who think this is a runaway jury's excessive
verdict, and exemplifies why tort reform is needed to restrain such irresponsible groups of 12 peers, also think that those same 12 peers are perfectly competent when the decision they're making sentences someone to death.
