Bush says economy is on solid ground

WASHINGTON (AFX) -- President Bush on Wednesday said the U.S. economy remains on solid footing despite the devastation from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

"We've got a resilient and strong economy," Bush said in a speech Wednesday to the Economic Club of Washington.
Bush attributed the economy's flexibility to limited government regulation and low tax rates.

He said these policies have helped the U.S. enjoyed an average GDP growth rate of 3.6% over the past twelve months, "more than three-times more than Europe and nearly twice that of Japan."
Foreigners will continue to invest their savings in the United States, Bush said.

In his speech, Bush quickly went through his economic agenda.
Bush called on Congress to make his tax cuts permanent and to "push the envelope" on spending cuts.
"We've got to redouble our efforts to be wise about how we spend your money," Bush said.

Ha! I was going to say the same thing. Whenever they come out to make a point about how grand everything is, that's usally a sign that it's not or soon to barrel into the aforementioned "doo doo".

13. He's a liar AND he's dangerously nuts.
But he keeps pluggin' away. Gotta give that to him and his keepers.

The "little nuttjobbers who could" are running out of steam as they mount the steep, steep hill of American dissatisfaction and outrage. But they never see the futility of their actions as they continue to stoke President Crackpot's boiler with oodles of bullshit.

The smoke-screen isn't working, but we're mighty steamed.

Idiots.

In case you missed the news story, that's the offer Delphi management is "extending" to their employees, much in the same manner you "extend" a dog turd on a shovel to gross our your kid sister.

29. Not just oil & defense
If you are the CEO of any big company these days, you're raking in bonus money, stock option money, etc.

Of course, it sucks if you're part of the rank & file.

27. What is the median indebtedness per person versus 2000?
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 05:21 PM by EndElectoral
It must be through the roof. Then of course add to that the federal deficit to those numbers along with the fact that the DOW is BELOW what it was six years ago before he took office. That's growth?

I really am interested in the indebtedness figures. Where could one find those? i know the poverty figures have grown dramatically as well as massive increases in bankruptcies.

It's the emperor's new clothes I guess. He just doesn't see it.

31. Gas is sky high, health care is sending families into
bankruptcy, the middle class can't afford a house anymore, and pensions for the elderly are at risk as corporations drop them in the name of staying competitive.

But the economy is great. Riiiiiiiiiighht.

32. Heating costs
When I got up yesterday morning it was 36 degrees. VERY reluctantly, I have been putting on the heat at night. I am scared shit what my natural gas heating costs will be. It is only OCTOBER and putting on the heat? My daughter is in college upstate and she got SNOW yesterday. Add this to the costs the middle class is facing now.

I heard on my local radio station is morning there are WAITING LISTS for wood burning stoves and the price of a cord of wood has DOUBLED since last year. It seems everybody wants a piece of the pie.
Now this administration wants to end the Federal deductions for mortgage interest payments and state a local taxes. HMMMM. Who does this favor? The RICH and the states that VOTED FOR BUSH.

The man is EVIL. Wake up, America.
