Next week 400 potential federal jurors will each receive a long questionnaire designed to show if they might be able to fairly sit in judgment of ex-Enron executives Ken Lay, Jeff Skilling and Rick Causey.
U.S. District Judge Sim Lake said Thursday he expects to excuse some people for hardships and he wants the lawyers to agree on which should be excused for potential bias.
Lake will bring a panel of 100 to court in mid-January for jury selection. The trial is expected to last five or six months.
Enron Task Force Sean Berkowitz said the government plans to call 20 to 30 witnesses.
Prosecutors pared their list of 114 uninidicted co-conspirators to 97.
