2. 28 feared dead in Delhi blasts
By Sify Newsdesk
Saturday, 29 October , 2005, 18:48

New Delhi: A series of powerful blasts ripped across three of New Delhi's markets on Saturday killing at least 28 and injuring several persons, according to a TV report.

Paharajung and Sarojini Nagar Markets and Govindpuri were the areas rocked by the blasts.

At least 25 were feared in Paharjung, while three more were feared dead in Govindpuri where a bomb was left in a DTC bus.

The blasts bear an eerie resemblance to the recent London bombings where the Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility.

6. CNN live coverage now. Most of the dead and injured are women and children
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 09:29 AM by CottonBear
according to the report. It happened in a popular and crowded market and restaurant district. :( 33 dead so far.
I hope your wife's family is ok.

edit: They're interviewing the woman minister of Delhi. She's on her way to one of the hospitals. 1,000s in the market area when the blasts went off.

The emergency response seems to be excellent and well-coordinated.

It is not clear what caused the blasts although police suspect they were bomb attacks.

Many shops were damaged in the blasts.

"The blast was so powerful, my house shook," the Associated Press quoted Kiran Mohan, a photo editor who lives about 200 meters (650 ft) away from Sarojini market, as saying.

Ambulances, sirens blaring, are rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.

8. Blasts in New Delhi, 39 feared killed
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Three powerful blasts ripped through crowded neighbourhoods in New Delhi on Saturday, killing at least 39 people, many of them out shopping ahead of the country's biggest Hindu and Muslim festivals.

The blasts occurred minutes of each other, two of them in major shopping districts, packed with people out on a fine Saturday evening.

At least 39 people were feared killed, New Delhi's Chief Fire Officer, R.C. Sharma, told Reuters. Scores were injured, reports said.

"It is something that has been planned, that is quite obvious," Delhi state Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told the NDTV television news channel.

11. Pakistan condemns Delhi blasts as criminal act of terrorism
ISLAMABAD, OCT 29 (PTI)

Condemning today's serial blasts in New Delhi, Pakistan today said it was shocked by the "barbaric" and "criminal act of terrorism".

"Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in New Delhi, which have resulted in the loss of a number of innocent lives. The attack in a crowded market place is a criminal act of terrorism," a Pakistan Foreign Office statement said here.

"The people and government of Pakistan are shocked at this barbaric act and express deep sympathy with the families of the victims. We hope that a thorough investigation will be carried out and the perpetrators of this act of terrorism will be brought to justice," it said.

Terrorists triggered three explosions in the Indian capital killing 50 people and injuring over 70 others, including some foreigners this evening.

12. 3 New Delhi Explosions Kill at Least 49
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051029/ap_on_re_as/india_explosion

Coordinated explosions in India's capital ripped through at least two markets jammed with evening shoppers ahead of an upcoming Hindu festival and a bus, killing at least 49 people.

Officials blamed terrorists for the blasts, which came as India and nuclear rival Pakistan began unprecedented talks on opening their disputed and heavily defended
Kashmir frontier to bring food, shelter and medical aid to victims of the Himalayan region's massive earthquake.

The first explosion hit New Delhi's main Paharganj market, leaving behind bloodstained streets and mangled stalls of wood and twisted metal. Within minutes came an explosion at the popular Sarojini Nagar market — the deadliest, with 39 killed — and the bus blast in the Govindpuri neighborhood. Police said at least 60 people were wounded in the first blast and dozens in the other two.

13. #$%#$%
F*cking Assholes...

1. Whoever did this was trying to incite communal riots. That is unlikely to happen.

2. Secondary reasom: Instill a fear, a sense of insecurity and economic damage at a festive time. This they have succeeded in.

As an Indian in Delhi, let me tell u that the anger is very very great. We're gonna get them good.

Everyone suspects who the terrorists are- Pakistan and paskistan sponsored cells. They shall of course hide behind thier cloak of denaiability etc.

Watch out... u've gone too far.
