Kashmir blast wounds 35; more attacks threatened
Suspected militants threw a grenade inside Indian Kashmir's main telephone exchange yesterday, wounding 35 people, as a powerful guerrilla group warned of more attacks in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Most of the wounded were men who had come to the heavily guarded state-run telephone office in the heart of Srinagar, the Kashmiri capital, to pay their telephone bills. They were standing in a queue when the grenade exploded.

"I was thrown against the wall by the force of the explosion," said shopkeeper Mohammad Ashraf. "I saw people running everywhere, and I saw my leg was bleeding."
