Halliburton says KBR unit revenue profit, sales soar
" HOUSTON, United States (AFP) - US oil industry services giant Halliburton said Thursday its Kellogg Brown and Root unit's profits rose four-fold and sales leapt 80 percent, boosted by work in Iraq (Profits from the unit's operations soared to 49 million dollars in the three months to September from 12 million dollars a year earlier, helped by "government services activity in the Middle East," Halliburton said.

KBR, the engineering and construction division that netted a no-bid government contract to help rebuild Iraq's shattered oil industry, also posted an 80-percent jump in sales to 2.3 billion dollars. "

2. Wow. No one saw that coming. Next you'll tell me the Pope is Catholic!
I cannot stand profiteering like this. Damn, this just pisses me off. Why can the average person see that their government is SCREWING them?

3. I wonder how many people are making money off of Halliburtons Stock?
Wouldn't it have been an easy choice to invest in them? I'd bet even many dems have ties going into that pot.

4. Now there's some good positive news about Iraq!

The media should really talk this up more, last night some of the polls said support for the Crusade was lagging.

5. The crowning achievement of the Iraq occupation
Bremer has unilaterally allowed foreign ownership and control of all Iraqi corporations and resources. That's how democracy works, I guess.

6. That's why Bremmer is there in the first place
He is a "diplomat" only in the sense that he once got a government paycheck and indeed worked at State. Molly Ivins had an article when he was first appointed about his forming a consulting business just after 9/11 to help businesses (security and large construction) make as much money as was possible. He was sent to Iraq because Garner a:didn't know what he was doing b: didn't have his eyes on the prize (s).
