Bush esconced in calm corner of tense summit city
MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina (AFP) - President George W. Bush will not have to watch the battles expected between police and anti-globalization demonstrators from the hotel he is using for the Summit of the Americas.

Thousands of police and troops have been putting up concrete and steel barricades in the streets, and limousines and trucks with darkened windows are prepared outside the Sheraton Mar del Plata.

But a pianist calmly plays Argentine tango classics in the lobby of the five star hotel. And Bush will have the presidential suite on the 10th floor with an invigorating view of the Atlantic Ocean and a golf course, according to officials. The cost is just 950 dollars a night, low by the standards of international cities.

The hotel is on the beach, just a few blocks from the auditorium where the Summit of the Americas will be held on Friday and Saturday.

1. Can they wave to him from boats

to let him know how much they are welcoming him?

Don't forget it is Laura's birthday.

2. How ironic that he should be in Argentina
Since, when he's abroad, I always picture him as Evita.

"Let's hear it for the Rainbow tour. It's been such an incredible success..."

Don't cry for me, Argentina!
The truth is, I never left you.
All through my wild days,
My mad existence,
I kept my promise.
Don't keep your distance!

7. Oh, I think he knows.
Bush is not ignorant of the heated passions he stirs up. He's most definitely aware that he's like a tornado: he leaves destruction in his wake.

Just imagine how nervous his handlers must be right now. They can probably see that over the past 5 years, the demonstrations are getting bigger, more mobilized, more demanding.

It must have been pure desperation on his advisors' part to pull this. They were hoping to rescue Bush's numbers from the toilet, but it won't work. He'll be more hated than ever.

16. He sure did look like dog shit on the nightly news when the press kept
peppering him with question about Rove he was visibly pissed. Then they asked him what he'd do if he ran into Hugo Chavez and he replied that 'muriKans expect their pResident to be polite so he'd be polite.

This article neglected to say that there are four Black Hawk helicopters protecting Chimpy and Co. and Mar del Plata's center is virtually deserted with 250 blocks closed off to the public. Argentines who live and work there are seething. They are even prohibited from going to their own beach.
